I’m thrilled to announce the return of Mytour’s Burning Questions column, where I address those health queries that people either can't or prefer not to Google. Just a reminder: this isn't medical advice, and I’m not a doctor.
That said, I’m always willing to ask doctors the things you may shy away from—like how to get a mole checked in a sensitive area without feeling mortified, or whether penises tend to curve more as you age, or why gas and diarrhea tend to show up when you're on your period.
But burning questions don’t always have to be awkward or uncomfortable. We’ve tackled topics like why acne keeps showing up in the same spot, or whether living off ramen can cause scurvy (yes, but it’s pretty hard to achieve). One of my favorite questions came from someone worried they might spill a long-hidden family secret under anesthesia. Fortunately, the answer was no: while anesthesia can lower your inhibitions, it doesn’t lower them that much.
Here we are in 2020, a time full of questions as the world keeps evolving around us. If you've got a health or human body-related query, don't hesitate to reach out. I'll be keeping an eye on the comments below, but for the best shot at getting your question featured in a future column, please email me with 'BURNING QUESTION' in the subject line. Unless you ask otherwise, I’ll share your question anonymously while quoting directly from your letter.
