If you’ve been dedicating your time during social distancing to improve your photography skills, there are now additional opportunities to do so.
Last weekend we informed you about complimentary online photography courses provided by Nikon, and this week we discovered similar offerings from Olympus and Leica.
Olympus is introducing new “Home With Olympus Sessions.” Unlike other online classes available to the general public, these sessions are limited to groups of six, allowing participants to ask questions and receive personalized responses. Here’s what’s being offered:
•Getting to Know Your E-M1X: Explore and inquire about the E-M1X, delving into its menu and unique functionalities such as Handheld High Res Shot Mode, Intelligent Subject Detection AF, Live ND Mode, and additional features.
•Getting to Know Your E-M1 Mark III: Discover and ask questions about the E-M1 Mark III, focusing on its menu and advanced capabilities like Live ND Mode, Pro Capture, Live Composite, and more.
•Getting to Know Your E-M5 Mark III: Learn and inquire about the E-M5 Mark III, including its menu and specialized features such as Pro Capture, High Res Shot Mode, Live Composite, and others.
•Getting to Know Your E-M10 Mark II & III: Understand and ask questions about the E-M10 series cameras, covering their menu and features like Easy Shooting Modes, 4K Video, and more.
•Macro Photography: We’ll guide you to think big while capturing small subjects. Discuss macro photography, including Olympus features to achieve the perfect shot and gear suggestions – such as the M.Zuiko 60mm F2.8 and 30mm F macro lenses.
•Landscape Photography: Prepare to photograph the breathtaking landscapes you’ve always envisioned! Ask questions, explore settings, and receive lens recommendations, while learning about High Res Shot Mode, Live ND Mode for capturing dynamic elements like water and clouds, and more.
•Portrait Photography: Master the art of capturing stunning portraits, whether indoors or outdoors. Ask questions and dive into portrait photography topics, including M.Zuiko lens suggestions, flash usage, Pro Capture Mode, tethered shooting, and more.
•Bird Photography: Improve your success rate when photographing fast-moving birds! Ask questions and discuss birding techniques, including optimal settings, focusing strategies, Pro Capture Mode, lens and binocular recommendations, dot sights, and more.
•Basics of Photography: Ask questions and delve into the fundamentals of photography, covering aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, exposure, auto modes, and more.
•Live Composite Photography: Ask questions and explore everything about Live Composite, including its use for star trails, light trails, and creative portraiture.
•Underwater Photography: Prepare to explore a whole new world beneath the surface! Ask questions about the ideal gear for underwater photography, optimal camera settings, and techniques for using lighting underwater.
•Video with Olympus OM-D: Ask questions and discuss how to effectively capture video using the OM-D system, including topics like OM-Log, shutter speed, in-body image stabilization, audio syncing, and more.
To join, you need to apply on the website. The “application” requires providing your name, email, phone number, and details about the camera equipment you use. It’s more of a signup process than a formal application, as there’s no selection criteria. Seats are currently available but limited, so it’s better to register sooner rather than later.
