Picture this: you arrive at a SoulCycle session or any spin class, excited to hop on the bike, only to realize it’s set up for someone else’s comfort, not yours. Beginners often rely on instructors or friends for assistance, but learning to customize a universal bike for your body is a skill worth mastering over time.
Daily Burn shares three practical tests to ensure your seat and handlebars are perfectly positioned. While height adjustment is crucial (many riders set their seats too low), many overlook the fact that the seat can also be moved forward or backward for optimal comfort.
To determine the ideal distance between your seat and handlebars, sit on the saddle with both pedals level. “Visualize a weighted string hanging from your knees. If the seat is correctly adjusted, the string should align directly over the ball of your front foot,” explains instructor Danielle Devine Baum.
