Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
Caitlin-Marie Miner Ong.At Mytour, our goal is to assist everyone in simplifying their lives. Central to this mission is recognizing the structural and societal barriers that our readers encounter and responding with the most inclusive solutions possible.
We understand that the Mytour audience is diverse: We come from various racial backgrounds, sizes, identities, and abilities; we form different types of relationships and families; and we follow unique cultural and religious traditions. Our goal is to make Mytour a valuable resource for everyone, and we commit to using our platform to promote inclusivity, equality, and human rights.
With this in mind, we make the following commitments:
- Expand our team diversity: As of October 2023, 24% of Mytour's editorial staff identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). We ensure that BIPOC candidates are given full consideration for every open role and commit to interviewing at least one BIPOC candidate for each position.
- Broaden our contributor base: Mytour is dedicated to bringing in diverse voices among our expert contributors. Our parent company, Dotdash Meredith, is working to audit the diversity of our contributors, and our ongoing goal is to have at least 25% of regular Mytour contributors identify as BIPOC community members.
- Amplify diverse perspectives and normalize diverse imagery: We aim to interview experts and individuals representing a variety of communities, cultures, ages, and lived experiences in every story we produce across all platforms, including print, digital, social, and audio. Our writers are committed to addressing the specific needs of our diverse audience through service journalism. For example, our fashion coverage highlights brands offering inclusive sizing, nutrition articles focus on improving wellness instead of weight loss, and we intentionally feature and support BIPOC-founded and -owned businesses. We also prioritize normalizing representation of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, as well as a diverse range of bodies and abilities in our imagery.
- Address past content shortcomings: We are actively reviewing Mytour's content from the past 20+ years that may not meet our current standards. Our team is reviewing over 300 of our most-read stories to update them with a more inclusive perspective. Additionally, we are in the process of eliminating outdated and harmful terms, such as 'master bedroom,' gender stereotypes, and mental health-related terms like 'crazy,' 'obsessed,' and 'addicted' in non-medical contexts.
- Enhance the sensitivity of our coverage on cultural traditions: Together with the Dotdash Meredith food team, we are eliminating the white-centered approach to recipes from diverse cultures and cuisines. Our holiday coverage has also expanded to include celebrations such as Holi, Passover, Ramadan/Eid al-Fitr, and Juneteenth.
- Collaborate with independent review boards: We are in the process of establishing expert review boards to assess content that makes medical claims or may impact the health, safety, or finances of our readers. Additionally, Dotdash Meredith's official Anti-Bias Review Board will periodically evaluate our most popular articles to identify and eliminate both intentional and unintentional bias.
While we remain dedicated to the actions outlined above, we recognize that true change takes time, and we may make mistakes along the way. To stay accountable, we will regularly share our progress and updates. If you have any questions, suggestions for improvements, or referrals for contributors or creators we should feature, please reach out to us via email at: [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Mytour Team
Giving Back
Mytour is honored to partner with WIN (Women in Need), a nonprofit organization based in New York that offers safe housing and vital services to homeless women and children. We also co-host the annual Good Neighbor Awards, in collaboration with the NextDoor community platform.
IAC, the parent company of Mytour, has long supported organizations dedicated to addressing structural inequities and racial injustice. These include The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, The Equal Justice Initiative, Reclaim the Block, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, ACLU, and The Bail Project. In 2021, IAC launched IAC Fellows, an educational program designed to empower high-achieving students from underrepresented and resource-poor communities.
