iOS/Android: Paribus is an online tool that monitors your purchases to detect price reductions, automatically refunding the difference. It's free, efficient, and now available on both iPhone and Android. The iOS app has also recently been updated with some exciting new features.
We've explained how Paribus works, but here’s the gist: Some stores offer refunds when prices drop. You connect your email or Amazon account to Paribus, and it checks for price drops at participating retailers. If it finds a drop, it will request a refund on your behalf. Paribus securely authenticates through email providers, so you never need to share your password. Bank-level encryption is used to protect transmitted data, like your purchase details. Already have a Paribus account? Simply log in via your email provider and access your dashboard. Even better, the app provides statistics on your purchases. You can track how many purchases are logged and see how many were made at the lowest price for each item.
Here are a few additional features in the latest update of the iOS app:
Introducing Drops: In addition to securing refunds, users can now explore a live, anonymized feed of savings and make purchases of 'verified' deals. This simple yet powerful feature addresses the issue of how list prices have lost their relevance (NYT Story).
A More Intuitive UI: The app's onboarding process, design, and copy have been completely redesigned to provide a more transparent and user-friendly experience. Refunds remain automated, but now the app more clearly shows how and when the refund bot operates.
A Smarter Refund Bot: The power of data networks has strengthened over time, and as a result, the algorithms are saving customers more with each month. Depending on the store, users are now receiving refunds on 5%-15% of their purchases.
Founder Eric Glyman mentions that an update for the Android version is in the works. In the meantime, users can still access their dashboard and additional analytics through the web app version.
