The upscale pet brand Lords & Labradors ventured into uncharted territory, tackling a question that has intrigued many: How would the British royal family appear if they were dogs? This creative exploration was led by an anthropomorphic dog artist, a niche yet fascinating field.
To tackle this imaginative query, the team turned to Midjourney, an AI platform known for its artistic capabilities, including creating a cover for The Economist and winning an art competition. While some debate the ethics of AI in art, this project—transforming royals into puppies—appears to be a lighthearted and harmless application of the technology.
Lords & Labradors provided Midjourney with a creative brief to depict seven contemporary royals as dogs, leaving the breed selection to the AI. The tool analyzed online images to produce these unique canine interpretations.
Among the artworks, the depiction of Camilla, the Queen Consort, stands out for its striking similarity to her human counterpart. Transformed into a basset hound, her iconic blonde hairstyle remains unmistakable. The other portraits, while more canine in appearance, subtly capture human-like expressions and attire.
