Microfiber is often praised for its stain resistance, but it can still become dirty. Follow these quick steps to clean your microfiber couch in under 15 minutes.
Start by identifying the type of microfiber your couch is made from. According to the blog One Good Thing by Jillee, there are four distinct types of microfiber fabrics. Check the label on your couch for one of these codes:
W means the fabric can only be cleaned using water-based solutions.
S indicates the use of solvent-based cleaners.
S-W allows for either water or solvent-based cleaners.
V signifies vacuum cleaning only.
For S and S-W microfiber fabrics, spray rubbing alcohol directly on the stain and scrub with a sponge to eliminate it. The video above showcases this method, where she goes over her couch twice to tackle the tough stains.
Rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly, which is beneficial when working with polyester-based fabrics. In contrast, water can leave stains on couches as it dries.
