While all major restaurants must provide nutrition information for their menu items on their websites, some take it a step further by offering calculators that let you track exactly what you're consuming, down to the sides and toppings.
Chipotle's calculator is a perfect reflection of its straightforward yet customizable menu: simply check off what you add to your burrito. The result is not only a total for the calories and nutrients but also an itemized breakdown for each ingredient.
McDonald's Meal Builder offers a clunkier interface but can calculate the nutritional information for an entire meal—say, a burger, fries, and an apple pie. You can remove toppings (that’s how I discovered I'd save 90 calories by skipping Big Mac sauce, though I can’t imagine anyone actually doing that), but it doesn't allow for adding extras. Not every fast food chain offers a detailed nutrition calculator, but for a breakdown of most major burger joints, check out the Fast Food Nutrition website, which has compiled calculators for them.
In the pizza world, Domino's Cal-O-Meter does an excellent job of calculating calories, but it doesn’t include other details like carbs and protein (Correction: it does!). It can factor in multiple meal items, but its biggest drawback is displaying calories per slice. So while my double-cheese pineapple pizza shows 435 calories per slice, eating three slices actually puts me well over 1300.
