While debates persist about the pace of technological advancements and whether they’re as thrilling as we think, one undeniable positive in the digital realm is the rise of computer-animated films.
These films have consistently resonated with both children and adults. But which CGI movies truly stand out among the countless releases? Rotten Tomatoes set out to discover the answer.
With extensive data, Rotten Tomatoes created a list of the 100 best computer-animated films. Only entries with at least 20 reviews were considered, with the top films selected based on their “Tomatometer” scores.
Although studios like Blue Sky Studios and Sony Pictures Animation are recognized on the list, Pixar stands out as the dominant force, claiming 12 spots among the top 20 films.
However, Pixar isn’t the leading producer of animated films. That title belongs to Dreamworks Animation, which has released 49 films in total. To see how their films rank on the Tomatometer, check out the list below.

Pixar has certainly made a splash with the Toy Story series. Both Toy Story (1995) and its sequels appear in the top 20, though the 2022 spinoff Lightyear didn’t make the cut. Remarkably, Toy Story 2 (1999) surpassed the original, claiming the coveted no.1 spot.
The original Toy Story holds the distinction of being the first ever full-length computer-animated film. It was also the debut feature from Pixar, which has since become an undisputed leader in 3D animation.
