DCLCovering your windows with plastic is just one of many ways to reduce energy consumption this winter. While some may find it unappealing, I believe it's far worse to waste energy. Plus, there's nothing unattractive about saving money. You could potentially save up to $20 per window each winter (depending on furnace type and location). That's a substantial amount! You could enjoy rolling in that cash, but it would be much smarter to keep it in your savings account.
3M is known for producing some of the finest window film available. The company even offers an energy-savings calculator to help you estimate how much money you could save by using their window film.
How to Apply Plastic Window Insulation
Installing window film is straightforward. You’ll just need scissors, a blade, tape, and a hairdryer. Start by cleaning the window to ensure the plastic adheres properly. Measure the required amount of plastic and cut it accordingly. Next, tape the plastic along the outer edge of the window frame. Once the plastic is in place, use the hairdryer to heat the center of the plastic, which will tighten it over the window. Finally, trim off any excess plastic with the blade.
Relax and enjoy the savings.
