Achieving success isn't a walk in the park, but no one can bring their dreams to life without a combination of hard work and others offering opportunities by opening doors from time to time. As you pursue your goals and take advantage of the chances provided by others, remember to extend the same kindness and assist those who are following in your footsteps.
In a conversation with Levo League, the acclaimed actor and producer Kevin Spacey shared that his success—while earned through countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance—was also the result of a number of individuals who believed in him during times of self-doubt, opened doors for him when he needed guidance, and supported him through challenging moments. Spacey noted that if this rings true to you, it's only right that you repay that kindness:
If you have found success, it is your responsibility to dedicate some of your time to sending the elevator back down.
His experience is not unlike many of ours—most of us have had someone who gave us a break, believed in our abilities at just the right time, or trusted us when they had every reason to turn away.
