Sherwin-Williams' Color of the Year Features Nine Unique and Timeless Hues

Each year, the announcement of the color of the year by leading paint brands is a highly anticipated event. Sherwin-Williams, a key player in the industry, has taken a unique approach this time. Rather than selecting a single shade as the Color of the Year (last year’s choice was the gentle blue hue named Upward), the brand has introduced its inaugural Color Capsule of the Year, featuring a curated collection of nine distinct colors.

The 2025 Color Capsule of the Year by Sherwin-Williams marks the brand’s 15th anniversary of declaring a color of the year. "To honor this milestone, we’ve introduced a capsule that offers a contemporary and versatile range of shades," explains Sue Wadden, Sherwin-Williams' director of color marketing. "Whether used as a cohesive palette or mixed in unique combinations, these colors bring a sense of harmony and elegance to any space or style."

Grounded

Brown has made a strong comeback as a popular home color this year, and the presence of Grounded in the 2025 Color Capsule of the Year solidifies its staying power. This adaptable, natural hue provides a serene and neutral foundation for any room.

Sunbleached

According to Sherwin-Williams, Sunbleached is described as "a shade that transcends white, hints at gray, and goes beyond traditional beige or taupe." It’s the perfect neutral, seamlessly blending with nearly any color scheme or design aesthetic.

Chartreuse

As one of the standout hues in the collection, Chartreuse is a lively yellow-green shade. While it may be polarizing, it harmonizes beautifully when combined with other colors from the capsule.

Rain Cloud

Rain Cloud is a rich gray-blue hue that evokes a sense of moodiness and comfort. This cool-toned shade is also featured in Sherwin-Williams' Designer Color Collection Rustic + Refined palette.

Clove

Inspired by the spice, Clove is a rich, almost black-brown shade. It complements warm wood finishes and other earthy tones, such as paprika red or turmeric yellow.

Malabar
