Though it’s been quite a while since I’ve been high, I still fondly remember the ridiculous escapades I had back in college. It was a time when our entertainment consisted of Super Smash Bros. Melee, lava lamps, and racquetball, all while sampling some (questionable) edibles. Those were simpler days.
If I were to get high these days, I’d definitely plant myself in front of my computer. Not because I’m avoiding social interaction, but because there’s just so much weirdness you can dive into on the internet while stoned.
This isn’t meant to be a comprehensive list of things to explore when you’re high. Many of you who frequently indulge in the green leaf likely have a collection of bookmarked websites that transport you to another dimension when you’re high. Feel free to share some of your go-to sites in the comments, and I might feature them in a future article.
Otherwise, here’s what I’d dive into after taking a hit.
Electric Sheep
This essential screensaver delivers an ever-changing array of randomized animations. Even if you’re not high, it’ll make your computer seem like it’s having its own psychedelic experience. If I weren’t so fond of Apple’s Aerial screensaver (hacked for Windows), this would be my go-to choice.
Demoscene
If screensavers aren’t your thing, explore these stunning coded creations—often paired with an offbeat musical rhythm—that manage to pack intricate animation into a tiny file size. You can also check out the subreddit to discover more of these unique gems.
Conduct some fluid experiments
I’m not high, but I’ve been messing around with this website for the past ten minutes. It’s fantastic.

Rez Infinite
Give this game a try when you're high. Extra points if you dive into it with virtual reality—and manage to keep your lunch down.
Thumper
For a vibe focused on rhythms, music, and sound, Thumper is the way to go. The visuals are sure to intensify whatever mood you're in, provided they don’t overwhelm you.
Bob Ross on Twitch
Happy little trees. Need I say more? If the soothing, 24/7 Bob Ross stream on Twitch doesn’t relax your high self, I’m not sure what will. Beat the devil out of that brush.
Planet Earth
It’s your home. Well, it’s everyone’s home. What better way to feel like you're floating in space, totally stoned, than by watching Earth in real time?

My Drunk Kitchen
I’m currently crossfading, but hear me out; even though the host of My Drunk Kitchen isn’t high while she whips up her occasionally questionable creations, she’s definitely not in a sober state. This might just inspire you to try your own culinary experiments before the dreaded munchies kick in.
The old warez intros
Back in the day, archives of pirated apps and games usually came with an installer, a cracking tool, or another small executable. These would feature clever little animations and music, used by groups in the ‘scene’ to give themselves a pat on the back for their releases. The animations are often brief, but the tunes can be really catchy—and great background music for your fun-filled evening. Check out Flashtro, KeyGenMusic, and WAB for all the chiptune goodness you could ever want.

Create some fractals
Ah, fractals—takes me back to the Jurassic Park novel. Spice up your trippy party by creating (or exploring) endless flows of infinite patterns. It’s like the world is unfolding before your eyes, man.
Make your own music
If you’d rather compose music than get lost in vivid visuals, check out Splice Sounds—a handy little sequencer you can use directly in your browser—or the more minimalist Sampulator. There’s also Incredibox, if you’re in the mood for some fun. And if you just want ambient sound with zero effort, the Binaural Beat Machine is a solid choice.

Cache Monet
Perhaps it’s time to call it a night. How high are you???

Falling Falling
You’re pretty baked right now.

Corgi Orgy
Just... wow.
