There are countless records of UFO sightings across the globe. Likewise, there are numerous stories about encounters with beings from other worlds. However, when reports emerge with such a specific and unusual detail—such as victims being paralyzed by a laser or light beam—it adds a level of credibility, prompting curiosity about whether these events are somehow connected.
Whether these occurrences stem from highly classified military operations or truly involve extraterrestrial beings from distant galaxies, it’s hard to dismiss them as fabrications—at least from the perspective of this writer. Now, without further delay, here are ten UFO encounters where witnesses were left temporarily paralyzed by what seemed to be highly advanced laser technology.
10. Denise Bishop
In September 1981, 23-year-old Denise Bishop was making her way home to the house in Plymouth, England, that she shared with her mother and sister. As she stepped out of her taxi, she noticed strange lights and odd activity at the back of the property. As she drew closer, she found herself face-to-face with an eerie, otherworldly craft hovering just above the ground.
In a state of panic, she desperately searched for her house keys and managed to insert the right one into the lock. At that moment, a vivid green “laser” beam shot out from the craft and struck her hand, rendering her immobile, though she remained fully conscious. As soon as the light disappeared, she resumed opening the door, as though the entire experience had been paused like a scene in a movie and then resumed.
She later shared the terrifying experience with her sister and boyfriend, who then reported the incident to the authorities. The area on Denise’s hand where the laser had struck developed a severe burn within hours, which took several weeks to heal.
9. Marius Dewilde
A disturbance outside his home in Quarobule, France, in September 1954, caught Marius Dewilde’s attention. His dog was howling uncontrollably, and when Dewilde looked out the window, he understood why. There, directly across from his house, was a massive dark shape, accompanied by two peculiar beings with oversized heads and strange, tight-fitting suits, clearly investigating the area.
Dewilde stepped outside and began moving toward the strange beings. However, before he could get closer, a blinding light from the enormous craft focused directly on him, freezing him in place.
The two beings continued their examination before returning to the dark craft, which then shot straight up into the sky. As it ascended, the light disappeared, and Dewilde regained the ability to move. He looked up just in time to see the once-large object shrinking into a tiny speck of light before vanishing from sight.
8. A Surge of Paralysis Incidents in the 1954 Wave
Marius Dewilde wasn’t the only one in France to encounter such an extraordinary event during the fall of 1954. The entire country was swept up in a wave of bizarre sightings, with many witnesses reporting experiences of paralysis.
In late September, the owner of a vineyard witnessed a glowing, luminous craft descending onto his property. Three unusual beings emerged from the craft and, upon noticing the vineyard owner, paralyzed him. The next thing he knew, he was lying alone in his field, with the glowing craft now gone.
In the small town of Bergerac, a man was struck with paralysis when a green beam shot from a silver disc he noticed outside his home as he went to close his garden gate one late evening. He remained immobile until the craft and its green light had disappeared.
A few days later, a group of bikers noticed an unusual object hovering overhead, emitting a green light that shone down toward them. Almost immediately, a strange prickling sensation swept over their bodies, and within moments, they were completely frozen in place, unable to move until the craft had vanished.
7. Benedito Campos and Silvia Mara
On October 29, 1977, Benedito Campos and his pregnant wife, Silvia Mara, were unwinding at their family home in Mosqueiro, Brazil, after a long day. It was just after 6:00 PM, and they were alone in a typically bustling household.
Out of nowhere, a large silver, oval-shaped object appeared in their view. A strange, green beam, sharp and precise like a searchlight, shone down from the unusual craft. Fascinated, the couple moved closer to the window to observe it. Suddenly, the bright beam shot toward them, seemingly piercing through the window and striking Silvia directly. She immediately fell into a frozen, trance-like state.
As this bizarre scene unfolded, two odd beings entered the house, each holding an object that emitted beams of light, one of which struck Silvia once more. A neighbor, hearing the commotion, rushed into the house with a shotgun and managed to drive the creatures away. He took the terrified couple to his home, where Silvia gradually regained her movement, although the experience left her shaken and frantic.
The object would soon return, and this time, one of its advanced light beams struck Benedito, temporarily paralyzing him. Then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, it disappeared, emitting a loud, deafening noise as it vanished.
6. Sphere Emitting ‘Orange Beams’
In June 1982, on a warm summer day, a witness was smoking a cigarette on the back porch of the Juneau Receiving Home in Juneau, Alaska. He noticed a “deep black globe,” approximately 1 meter (3 ft) in diameter, hovering about 90 meters (300 ft) in front of him. The object was so dark that the witness initially thought he was staring at a “hole in space.”
As if responding to his gaze, the black globe moved toward him, accompanied by a low humming sound. When it hovered nearly overhead, an unusual “fan-shaped orange beam” shot out from its underside, sweeping the ground from left to right. Anything caught in the beam’s path would glow a bright orange, prompting the witness to panic and run. As he reached the door of the house, the beam’s glare hit him, paralyzing him in place.
The next thing the witness remembered was waking up in his room about 20 minutes later. He had no recollection of how he had gotten there or what had happened to the mysterious black globe.
5. ‘Vladimir S.’
In the summer of 1976, while camping with friends in the Ural region of the former Soviet Union, an 18-year-old man known only as Vladimir S. was suddenly awakened in the middle of the night by strange lights and movements outside his tent. Stepping out to investigate, he witnessed a massive, glowing object rising from the lake near their camp. Inside this mysterious object stood a humanoid figure, its arms rigid at its sides, seemingly prepared for flight.
Vladimir could also feel an overwhelming heat emanating from the craft. As he looked up, a strange green light fell upon his face, and he realized that he was unable to move. The light remained on him for several moments, only lifting when the craft itself vanished from view. Interestingly, Vladimir later claimed that a permanent back injury he had suffered was mysteriously healed after the incident, which he believed was the result of the strange light that had enveloped him.
4. Henry Gallois and Luis Vingeran
In October 1954, as Henry Gallois and Louis Vigneron were driving toward the small town of Sassier in France, they were suddenly overwhelmed by a strange and unsettling sensation, similar to an electric shock, that coursed through their bodies. Their vehicle came to an abrupt halt, and all of its electrical systems failed. Both men then realized they were completely unable to move.
It might not have made any difference if they had been able to move, as the sight before them was so extraordinary that it would likely have left them paralyzed with a mix of awe and fear. About 50 meters (160 ft) away, an unusual metallic object stood, emitting a light beam that illuminated their vehicle and the surrounding area. The two men saw three small creatures enter the object, which then ascended swiftly, disappearing in an instant and plunging the area back into darkness. This event also restored movement to the men's limbs and revived their once-inoperative vehicle.
3. Dionisio Llanca
Dionisio Llanca, a long-haul truck driver with over ten years of experience delivering goods across Argentina, had his journey to Rio Gallegos interrupted in a truly unsettling way on October 27, 1973.
Approximately an hour into his journey at 1:00 AM, Llanca noticed an issue with one of his truck's rear tires. He pulled over on a desolate road and began changing the tires. Suddenly, a flash of light illuminated the area around his truck. Llanca saw the light moving, but it was so bright that he could make out no shape behind it. When he attempted to get up, he realized the light was directed at him, and he found himself unable to move. Even his attempts to shout were unsuccessful, as his vocal cords appeared to be affected.
As he focused on the scene before him, he could clearly make out a disc-shaped craft. As his attention shifted, he noticed three humanoid figures standing behind him: two males and one female. They were all clad in form-fitting, one-piece suits, with no distinctive features except for abnormally large foreheads.
The next thing Llanco remembered was waking up between two parked cars, several miles away from his truck (which the police would later find). He was discovered wandering along the road and was picked up by local authorities, eventually being transferred to a hospital. Although he initially had no recollection of the event, Llanco later recalled boarding the strange craft with the alien beings under hypnosis, providing further details about the encounter.
2. Object Shoots Light Into Room
Just before Christmas in 1968, a five-year-old boy from Alaska (name withheld) was awakened by a bright, blue light illuminating his bedroom. Curiously stepping out of bed, he was more intrigued than frightened and moved closer to the light, gazing upwards at its brilliant source. But as soon as he did, he was struck with paralysis.
Above him, the source of the light was a peculiar “half-moon shaped” object, resembling a probe. Due to the boy's young age, he couldn't recall how long he remained unable to move, but when he later reported the incident in 1999, he estimated it lasted between 15 and 30 minutes. After the object left the room and the light disappeared, he regained his ability to move.
He also mentioned that after the incident, he began having frequent, vivid dreams in which he was trapped in bright, colorful lights. Were these just dreams? Or could they have been further encounters?
1. Soldier Blinded And Paralyzed
In the early hours of November 12, 1976, two soldiers on sentry duty at the Talavera le Real Air Force base in Badajoz, Spain, were suddenly subjected to an agonizing, high-pitched screech. A third soldier joined them outside, and together, they noticed an unusual, bright light moving across the sky.
They performed a quick search around the base’s perimeter, but finding nothing on the ground, they returned to their posts. Just then, a sudden gust of wind swept over them, accompanied by the sound of breaking twigs coming from the nearby woods. They sent their German Shepherd dog to investigate, but the dog returned moments later, disoriented.
From the woods, a figure emerged, clad in a shiny space suit, wearing a helmet, and surrounded by a strange green glow. One of the soldiers raised his rifle, but a flash of light struck him, blinding him temporarily and rendering him completely immobile. Another flash lit up the area, and when the soldiers looked again, the being had vanished. The soldier who had been paralyzed gradually regained the use of his limbs in the following days, and he was otherwise unharmed.
