Bamboo sheets are renowned for their exceptional ability to regulate temperature and wick away moisture, making them ideal for hot sleepers. With their smooth, silky texture and lightweight design, they provide a comfortable night's rest.
A quick note of clarification: Bamboo sheets aren’t made directly from raw bamboo. Instead, they’re crafted from bamboo fibers that are transformed into rayon, lyocell, or viscose fabrics. So, if you notice these terms on your product label, rest assured, you haven’t accidentally purchased polyester sheets.
“Technically, these shouldn’t be called bamboo sheets at all—people can even face fines from the FTC for doing so,” explains Jeffrey Kambak, CEO of Yunus Textile Mills Limited. “The proper terms are ‘rayon from bamboo’ or ‘viscose from bamboo.’” For ease, we’ll refer to them as bamboo sheets in this article.
To determine the best bamboo sheets, we tested 38 sets in our Des Moines lab and real-world environments for over six months, judging their quality, texture, breathability, durability, and overall value. For expert insights on selecting the right bamboo sheets, we consulted Kambak and Stephen Light, CEO and co-owner of Nolah Technologies, a bedding manufacturer.
Best Overall
Bampure Organic Bamboo Sheets
These sheets feature deep pockets with elasticized corners and are less likely to wrinkle compared to other bamboo options.
They do not come in a split king size option.
Bamboo sheets are generally pricier than cotton, which is why we were delighted to discover these high-quality Bampure Bamboo Bed Sheets at such an affordable price. During our testing, we found them to be luxuriously soft, silky to the touch, and pleasantly cool. The sateen weave gives them a beautiful sheen and a premium feel, with a thread count of 400, placing them in the ideal range for bamboo viscose.
One of the notable benefits is that these sheets are much less likely to wrinkle compared to many others we've tested. Additionally, we love that these sheets feature deep pockets and elastic corner bands to ensure they stay securely in place. Even after six months of use, these sheets maintain their silky feel and lightweight texture, providing an airy comfort that’s ideal for both hot weather and those who tend to sleep warm.

Best Budget
Cosy House Collection Luxury Bed Sheets
These sheets come in 13 colors and 7 sizes, including rare options like split-king.
Made from a polyester-bamboo blend, these sheets aren’t 100% bamboo.
Bamboo sheets can be costly, so a more affordable option is to consider bamboo blends instead of 100% bamboo. If you don’t mind the mix, we strongly recommend the Cosy House Collection Bamboo Sheets, made of 60% polyester and 40% rayon from bamboo.
In addition to providing great value, these sheets feel soft, durable, and pleasantly cool. The fabric is lightweight and breathable, yet still maintains a premium feel, keeping you comfortable throughout the night. After six months of use, they show no signs of discoloration, damage, or texture changes. They’ve even become softer with each wash. Surprisingly, they’ve retained their cool sensation throughout testing, despite the polyester blend.
Offered in 13 colors, these sheets cater to various personal preferences. They’re very lightweight, which might be too thin for those who prefer a heavier weave, but we find them ideal for warmer weather. They also fit snugly on our bed, although those with thicker mattresses might face a challenge. Nevertheless, their excellent quality and durability, especially at this price, make them an incredible deal.

Softest
Quince Linen Bamboo Sheet Set
These sheets offer the breathability of linen paired with the softness of bamboo.
The water absorption took longer than expected, making these sheets less moisture-wicking compared to others on our list.
Mixing bamboo with other fabrics typically reduces its cooling properties and softness, but the Quince Linen Bamboo Sheet Set breaks this trend. This blend of 30% linen and 70% rayon from bamboo combines the best features of both materials. Linen is known for its temperature-regulating abilities, keeping you cool during the warmer months and cozy during the cooler ones.
The combination of linen and bamboo reduces the coarseness of linen, resulting in a softer and more durable set of sheets. This blend also makes the sheets feel incredibly light and cool to the touch. The texture is more soft than silky, and we’d go as far as to say these are some of the softest sheets we’ve ever experienced. The fitted sheet fits snugly on the mattress, without any loose threads or snags. We were pleased to find they stayed securely in place, even through restless nights.
The sheets performed reasonably well in our stain test—the coffee stain almost completely came out, but the foundation stain remained about 50% visible. On the downside, the water droplet in our absorption test stayed on the sheets for 12 seconds and took almost 20 seconds to spread and absorb, raising some concerns about moisture management. However, after several months of use, we had no overheating issues and found the sheets kept us comfortable in both warm and cool temperatures.

Best Splurge
Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set
These sheets are incredibly soft, breathable, and resistant to wrinkles. They also feature extra-deep pockets to fit any mattress size.
With regular washing, a few loose threads developed over time.
Cozy Earth’s highly popular bed sheets performed impressively in our tests. From the moment we touched them, we were impressed by their softness and smooth texture, and the embroidered logo adds a touch of luxury to their appearance.
These bamboo sheets provided an immediate cooling sensation, and we never felt too warm while using them. After washing, they became incredibly soft and wrinkle-free—a major improvement compared to other bamboo sheets. We slept on them every night for six months because we couldn't resist their luxurious, hotel-like softness. Even with bi-weekly washes, we noticed only a few loose threads, but considering their daily use, this level of wear is minimal.
With a 320 thread count, these sheets are in the ideal range for bamboo, and the 20-inch pockets are deep enough to fit most mattresses. Available in six sizes and 16 earthy colors, they are the priciest bamboo sheets we tested. However, if your budget allows, we believe this set will provide a comfortable sleep experience for years. Additionally, it comes with a generous 100-day trial and a 10-year warranty.

Best Bamboo-Cotton Blend
Brooklyn Bedding Deep Pocket Bamboo Cotton Sheets
These sheets are lighter and more breathable compared to other blends, thanks to their bamboo and cotton composition.
Unlike some other bamboo sheets, these don’t have the silky smooth texture.
Many bamboo blends use polyester, but these Brooklyn Bedding Bamboo Cotton Sheets stand apart by combining bamboo rayon with cotton. The result is a sturdy yet breathable and moisture-wicking feel.
Like bamboo, cotton is naturally lightweight and breathable, making these sheets cool to the touch. They’re not as smooth as 100% bamboo sheets, but after six months of use, they’ve remained just as comfortable and cooling. Despite minor wrinkling post-wash, they became even softer and silkier.
Although the 300-thread-count cotton is more expensive than polyester, these sheets still offer good value. They come in a wide range of sizes, including harder-to-find options like twin XL and split king. Plus, their deep elastic pockets make them easy to fit, even on thicker mattresses.

Most Breathable
The Company Store Company Cotton Bamboo Sateen Sheet Set
These ultra-smooth sheets offer comfort in both colder and warmer seasons.
After washing, they lose some of their initial silkiness.
If you're prone to night sweats, finding the right breathable sheets can make all the difference in getting a cool night’s sleep. These sheets from The Company Store are crafted with a blend of 70% rayon made from bamboo and 30% combed cotton. This combination provides the airy moisture-wicking properties of bamboo, paired with the soft durability of cotton. In fact, these sheets felt so luxurious that they reminded us of those you’d expect to find in a high-end hotel.
During our tests, the sheets delivered a cooling sensation that persisted throughout the night. The silky sateen weave and deep pockets made it easy to slip the fitted sheet onto the mattress, simplifying bed-making. Though they did lose some of their silkiness after the first wash, making them feel closer to standard cotton sheets, they maintained a smooth, luxurious feel after six months of use, with no noticeable signs of wear.
Despite their impressive breathability, we were pleasantly surprised to find that these sheets are ideal for any temperature. They quickly became our top choice for warmer months and even replaced our go-to fleece sheets during colder seasons. We also appreciate the variety of colors available, and the option to monogram them makes for a thoughtful gift that will provide lasting use.

Best All-Season
DreamFit DreamChill Enhanced Bamboo Sheet Set
These sheets are designed with remarkable temperature-regulation capabilities.
Stain removal can be challenging.
With changing seasons, it's essential to choose a sheet set that offers year-round comfort without the need for constant replacement. This is exactly what makes the DreamFit DreamChill Enhanced Bamboo Sheet Set a standout choice.
These sheets offer a medium-weight feel, less crisp than pure cotton but not as silky as pure bamboo. The bamboo-cotton blend is smooth against the skin and grows softer with each wash. What truly sets these sheets apart is their exceptional temperature-regulating ability, keeping you comfortable without overheating, making them an ideal choice for all seasons.
These sheets did not perform well in the stain test. Coffee, foundation, and oil stains were still noticeable after washing, making them unsuitable for homes prone to messes. However, we were impressed with their durability. After the abrasion test, there were no signs of lint or loose fibers, and the texture remained unchanged. An added bonus is the rubberized straps at each corner that help secure the sheet to the mattress. Though the straps were challenging to attach initially, once in place, the fitted sheet stayed perfectly in place.

Best Heavy
Bamboo Bliss Bamboo Sateen Sheet Set.
They are excellent at wicking moisture.
They are only available in queen and king sizes.
Bamboo sheets are often praised for their lightness, but not everyone prefers this. If you like your sheets to have more weight, we highly recommend the Bamboo Bliss Bamboo Sateen Sheets.
These sheets are crafted from bamboo rayon with a sateen weave, giving them a silky smooth feel. Due to their 400 thread count, they are denser and heavier than other bamboo sheets we've tested. (We’d classify them as mid-weight rather than lightweight.) Despite this, they maintain the cooling and moisture-wicking properties that bamboo bedding is known for.
We were also impressed by the durability of these sheets. When we first received them, they didn't seem especially sturdy, but they held up well after washing, with most stains coming out easily. After six months of use, they have proven to be durable, cooling, and more resistant to odors compared to other sheets. Considering their silky feel and durability, we believe they are priced incredibly well. While we're disappointed that they are only available in two sizes, we appreciate the selection of attractive colors.

Most Durable
Bamboo Bay Bamboo Sheet Set
These sheets performed the best in our abrasion test with sandpaper, showing superior durability.
They took longer to absorb moisture and wrinkled more than other options we tested.
Bamboo sheets are often praised for being soft, breathable, and lightweight, though they can sometimes lack durability. However, Bamboo Bay’s Bamboo Sheets offer the best of both worlds, combining softness with exceptional durability.
Constructed from sateen-weave bamboo viscose, the sheets feel luxuriously soft and light with a silky texture that may take a bit to get accustomed to. During testing, they showed outstanding durability. We exposed them to coffee, oil, and makeup, and each stain was completely removed in the wash. When rubbed with sandpaper, the sheets actually became smoother, though they did thin a bit. This is a rare outcome as most sheets tested showed staining or pilling after similar sandpaper tests.
The sheets kept us cool throughout testing, though they didn’t perform as well in moisture-wicking assessments. We were also let down by how wrinkled they became after washing, but given their impressive durability, this is a minor issue (especially since they remained cool even after six months of use). Plus, they come in a variety of colors and sizes, making it easy to find the perfect set.
Material: 100% bamboo viscose | Thread Count: 300 | Pocket Depth: 16 inches | Size Range: Full to split king | Certifications: Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex | Return Policy: 30 days

Final Thoughts
Our number one recommendation is the Bampure Bamboo Bed Sheet Set due to its softness, cooling effect, wrinkle resistance, and impressive durability in our tests—not to mention its great value. For those seeking a more affordable alternative, we suggest the Cosy House Collection Luxury Bamboo Sheet Set, made from a polyester-bamboo blend that remains light and breathable.
Our Testing Method
We tested 38 bamboo sheet sets both in our lab and at home, assessing each set before and after washing.
We began by evaluating the quality of each sheet, inspecting for loose or uneven threads, imperfections in the dye or pattern, and any other flaws. During this process, we measured the dimensions of each sheet using a tape measure and compared them to the manufacturer's stated specifications.
Next, we assembled a bed with the fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcases, noting the texture as we went. We then placed a droplet of water on the fabric, observing whether it beaded up or spread into the material. A faster dispersion of water indicates better moisture management. To assess the weave and density, we held each sheet up to light and recorded how much light passed through.
Afterward, we washed and dried each sheet set following the manufacturer's instructions. We then re-measured to see if any sheets had shrunk or stretched. Finally, we remade the bed and looked for signs of wear or damage to gauge their durability. We also used a sanding block to rub against the fabric, checking for any tears or fibers that came off.
Finally, we applied oil, coffee, and foundation to the sheets and pillowcases, letting them dry for an hour. After washing and drying the sheets, we evaluated how visible the stains were to assess their ease of cleaning.
After completing our tests, we assessed the price of each sheet set and evaluated its overall value, factoring in its performance, materials, and cost. For a more comprehensive perspective, we took the sheets home to track their real-world performance after three and six months of use, updating this article with our findings.

How to Shop for Bamboo Sheets Like a Pro
Focus on Material and Weave
Most bamboo sheets are actually made from viscose or rayon derived from bamboo. The process starts with bamboo pulp, which is dissolved in a chemical solution and then forced through machinery to create filaments (or regenerated cellulose), which are spun into fabric. The result is a soft, lightweight, breathable material that has a silky feel.
Bamboo lyocell is another option, created by dissolving raw bamboo in a solvent. It's considered more eco-friendly than viscose because 99% of the water and solvent used are recycled during production. Like viscose and rayon, bamboo lyocell is soft, moisture-wicking, and cooling. However, it might not be as soft or durable as viscose and rayon, and it tends to be more expensive.
You’ll also find bamboo blended with other fabrics like cotton, linen, or polyester. This is ideal for those who don't prefer the silky feel of bamboo but enjoy its breathability. Blending bamboo with cotton or linen can increase softness, while mixing it with polyester can enhance strength and affordability. As Light points out, "If the description doesn’t specify 100% viscose, rayon, or lyocell, it’s probably a bamboo blend or another material entirely."
When it comes to weave, bamboo sheets most often feature twill or sateen weaves, though your preference will guide the choice. Sateen has a one-thread-under, three- or four-threads-over pattern, resulting in an ultra-soft fabric with a subtle sheen. Twill weaves create a stronger fabric but are less breathable than sateen. Bamboo percale sheets are the most breathable, though they’re harder to find.
Consider Your Mattress Height
Pocket depth refers to how deep the fitted sheet can stretch to cover your mattress. To determine the right pocket depth for your mattress, measure its height from top to bottom, remembering to include any mattress topper in the measurement.
Although a 12-inch pocket depth can technically fit a 12-inch mattress, it’s best to leave a little extra space to avoid sliding up the corners of your mattress. As a general guideline, subtract two inches from the pocket depth of the fitted sheet to see if it will fit comfortably. For example, a 16-inch pocket depth will easily cover a mattress that is 14 inches or less. In our tests, we found that Cozy Earth's bamboo sheet set is ideal for extra-thick mattresses, with its remarkable 20-inch pocket depth.

Thread Count Isn’t Everything
Our experts agree that a higher thread count does not necessarily mean better quality: "We've done a poor job educating consumers about how thread count doesn't define the quality of sheets, and it absolutely doesn’t," says Kambak. "It's much more about the yarn's quality and how well the company finishes the textiles." A higher thread count actually makes the fabric denser, which can limit airflow in your sheets.
For bamboo sheets, Kambak recommends a thread count between 200 and 400. Anything above 1,000 typically signals lower quality because manufacturers often use thinner fibers to pack in more threads. "Bamboo fibers are naturally soft, smooth, and durable, so a higher thread count isn’t needed," adds Light.
Watch for Product Certifications
Independent third-party testing ensures that textiles like bedding meet safety standards. Since most bamboo sheets go through a chemical treatment process, harmful residues can remain on the fabric's surface. The Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex certification guarantees that products have been tested and proven safe from harmful substances—most sheets on our list have earned this certification.
Be cautious with any brand that claims their bamboo sheets are “organic.” The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the official certification body for organic products, and they don’t consider any bamboo bedding to be organic. This is due to the regeneration process bamboo undergoes to create viscose, rayon, or lyocell, meaning bamboo bedding cannot be classified as natural or organic even if the bamboo itself was originally certified organic in the field.
Additional Bamboo Sheets Worth Considering
Quince Bamboo Sheet Set: The only reason these sheets didn’t earn a perfect five-star rating right away was due to a slight odor and some uneven stitching we noticed. However, considering the excellent price, we feel these minor flaws are easy to overlook.
Hush Iced Cooling Sheet Set: These sheets were cool and silky smooth to the touch, maintaining their feel even after washing and drying. While we were impressed with the quality, we were disappointed that 95% of the stains we applied couldn’t be removed, particularly at the higher price point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are bamboo sheets better than cotton?
It really depends on your personal preferences. Bamboo sheets excel at pulling heat away from the body and wicking away moisture. Cotton is generally crisper, while bamboo offers a silkier feel.
However, cotton is typically more affordable than bamboo unless you're investing in high-end options like Egyptian or Supima cotton. In our testing, The Company Store Cotton Bamboo Sateen Sheet Set blends bamboo viscose and cotton, giving it a less silk-like feel, which makes it a better option for those who prefer traditional cotton sheets.
Are bamboo sheets eco-friendly?
While bamboo viscose and bamboo rayon sheets are often marketed as "eco-friendly" or "green," this remains a subject of debate. Kambak explains that from a plant perspective, bamboo is indeed eco-friendly because it requires little irrigation, minimal chemicals, and grows rapidly—almost like a weed. "However, chemicals are used in the process of turning bamboo into cellulose," he says.
Bamboo lyocell is processed in a more sustainable way than viscose and rayon, though it tends to be pricier and less widely available. Additionally, when not sourced responsibly, bamboo-based textiles can contribute to deforestation. Always choose bamboo sheets from brands that are open about their production and sourcing practices.
How should you wash bamboo sheets?
Always refer to the manufacturer's care instructions before washing your sheets. As a general rule, bamboo sheets should be washed in cold water with a mild detergent and tumble-dried on a low heat setting. Avoid washing them with towels to prevent lint buildup. Bamboo sheets are soft right out of the package, so fabric softener isn't needed. In fact, Light advises against it: "To keep your bamboo bedding in top condition, never bleach it or use fabric softeners," he says.
