Our pediatrician suggested a simple trick, which I’ll definitely use on myself the next time I need eyedrops. Here's how it works:
1. Have your child lie down and close their eyes. 2. Gently tilt their head sideways, so that the eye you're aiming for is raised above the nose. 3. Place the drop in the small pocket where their nose meets the inner corner of their closed eye. 4. Ask them to open their eyes while staying lying down. Gravity will ensure the eyedrop falls straight into their eye.
- The key is having them lie down, which lets the drop fall naturally into their eye. It's an easy trick that makes the process way smoother.
The process was so effortless that my daughter eventually started *asking* for eyedrops, as she seemed to find it oddly enjoyable. I can't really explain why. But at least you won't have to struggle to open a child’s eye.
