This theory originated in November when redditor u/Charlie780561 noticed intriguing casting details on the Stranger Things IMDb page. The site listed roles such as “Russian soldier,” “Russian officer,” and “Russian Goon,” which were mysteriously removed by mid-December.
The Redditor noted that the roles were later relabeled as Guard, Soldier, and similar generic titles.

Netflix may have removed the descriptions to safeguard key plot details, but they overlooked one credit hinting at a Russian adversary in season three. Until recently, Ryan Mari was credited as a “Russian guard” under “Series Stunts” for three episodes of the upcoming season.
The same Redditor shared a recent comment, stating: "[I'm] just surprised they removed 'Russian,' as if it spoiled the plot. Why were 'Russian guard' and 'Russian soldier' listed initially?"
While this potential spoiler introduces an exciting political twist, it should be approached cautiously. The leak originates from IMDb, which, similar to Wikipedia, allows edits by registered users.
If the information is accurate, Will, Eleven, and their friends might face a new threat in season three: Communism. Considering the show is set in 1985, during the Soviet Union era, this twist isn’t entirely far-fetched.
