Nestlé has faced several recalls in the past involving ‘foreign materials,’ mostly plastic, in their cookie products. Now, however, the issue involves wood fragments. Nestlé USA has announced a voluntary recall after some batches of their Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough were found to contain wood pieces. Here's everything you need to know about it.
This recall of Nestlé cookie dough is being issued across the entire nation
The specific product being recalled is the 'Nestlé Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Break and Bake Bars,' available in 16.5-ounce packages. You can view an image of the product here. The recall affects two specific batches suspected of containing wood fragments, but they were distributed to retailers nationwide across the U.S.
The two affected batches of cookie dough bars were produced on April 24 and 25. The recalled batch codes are 311457531K and 311557534K, with 'Best By' dates of August 22, 2023, and October 23, 2023. You can find these batch codes and dates printed in brown on the side of the package (refer to this image to locate them).
The recall was prompted by customer complaints after wood fragments were discovered in the cookie dough bars. Nestlé has assured the public that no other Toll House products are impacted, and there have been no reported illnesses or injuries linked to the contamination. This recall is being conducted purely as a precautionary measure.
What to do if you have the recalled Nestlé cookie dough bars
If you have purchased the recalled cookie dough bars, check the package to ensure it matches one of the affected batches. Nestlé advises customers to refrain from preparing or eating the dough and to return it to the retailer for either a replacement or a refund.
