This week, YouTuber Logan Paul reportedly lost $ million in a scam, crypto enthusiasts are planning to leave society behind, and kids are supposedly trying bizarre recipes like NyQuil chicken—or maybe none of this is real, as everything seems fabricated.
Logan Paul loses $ million in a scam
Renowned YouTuber and high-profile boxer Logan Paul allegedly fell victim to a $ million scam. He purchased what he believed to be a box of first-edition Pokémon cards, only to discover it contained worthless GI Joe card packs. Despite warnings from Pokémon collectors about the box's dubious history, it was authenticated by the Baseball Card Exchange prior to the sale.
In a video shared on his channel, Paul stated, “I’m an optimistic person, bro, and I always try to see the good in things, but this is really tough,” right after discovering the cards were fake. Given this is the internet, there’s a chance that some or all of this story might be fabricated as well.
Cryptoland aims to attract residents
Would you consider living on a tropical island filled exclusively with crypto enthusiasts building a blockchain-driven utopia? If you’re like me, you might say, “Maybe, if I were convicted of a heinous crime and had to choose between death or exile,” but perhaps we lack the vision to see the appeal.
As per a promotional video released by the creators of the (almost certainly fraudulent) project, Cryptoland is envisioned as “a global center where the community can work, live, and enjoy a premium crypto-centric lifestyle…A paradise built by and for crypto enthusiasts.”
Reportedly, a man named Kyle Chassé has already invested $750,000 in cryptocurrency to secure a spot on this Fijian island. While this is likely either a prank or a scam, I can’t help but hope it’s real, purely for the entertainment value.
Are children actually consuming NyQuil chicken?
If you’re planning dinner and feeling under the weather with SARs, avoid attempting to cook “NyQuil chicken.” This viral internet recipe, which involves simmering chicken breast in the cold medicine NyQuil, has been making waves this week.
This trend isn’t new, and it appears more like an attempt to shock rather than a genuine culinary practice. However, just to be clear: Medical experts warn that boiling NyQuil to remove water and alcohol concentrates its active ingredients, making it hazardous. Inhaling the fumes or undercooking the chicken could lead to food poisoning. In short, it’s a terrible idea. NyQuil pasta is equally ill-advised, and while a NyQuil smoothie might be slightly less harmful since it doesn’t involve boiling medicine, it’s still a bad idea.
This week in streaming: Cobra Kai season four and The Peacemaker
This week, Netflix released the fourth season of the action/comedy/karate series Cobra Kai, while HBO premiered the initial episodes of the action/comedy/superhero show The Peacemaker.
While these shows differ greatly in audience and style—Cobra Kai is a lighthearted martial arts spectacle aimed at younger viewers, whereas The Peacemaker is a gritty superhero comedy tailored for adults—their protagonists share striking similarities. Both John Cena’s Peacemaker and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence are misfit white men obsessed with 1980s metal music, overestimate their own significance, and struggle to navigate a world that no longer embraces their outdated, toxic masculinity. This is how the younger generation perceives us.
Viral video of the week: Horse kicks tree, farts on dogs, then bolts
I’m not sure why YouTube’s algorithm is pushing “Horse kicks tree, farts on dogs then runs away” to everyone this week, but I’m not complaining. The video features a horse kicking a tree, farting on some dogs, and then sprinting off. If this sounds like your kind of entertainment (and I’m certain it is), click the link immediately.
The video has garnered over 13 million views, with overwhelmingly positive feedback. “This horse truly kicks a tree, farts on dogs, and then dashes away… and it’s absolutely glorious!” remarks YouTube user Rainbow Unicorn, while Smart Smears adds, “I think everyone wishes they could be this horse in today’s world.” I couldn’t agree more.
