To bring cheer to a disaster-stricken part of Japan, a relief initiative is turning to a beloved character for inspiration. JR East railway company is transforming one of its trains with Pikachu-themed designs as part of the Pokémon with You program, according to SoraNews24.
Following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan’s Tōhoku region, Pokemon with You was established to bring moments of happiness to children impacted by the tragedy. In 2012, the organization teamed up with JR East to launch a Pokemon train, and now they are reuniting to create a train entirely dedicated to Pikachu.
Design sketches [PDF] from the railway company reveal a train adorned in red, yellow, and brown hues, mirroring Pikachu’s iconic colors. Inside, families can relax in seats featuring poké ball designs or enjoy the play zone filled with Pikachu toys.
