Tonight, I’m heading out to see a Beatles tribute band. I know, it will never truly match the original, but it's probably the closest I'll ever get. With such an extensive catalog of iconic songs to choose from for creating a clever band name, this particular group is simply called 'The Fab Four.' But there are many other cool tribute band names out there, and here are a few of them.
1. Pete Loaf. A few years ago, I witnessed Meat Loaf perform 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' at a Phillies game, and I must say, Pete Loaf might actually outshine the current Meat Loaf. Plus, his name is just fantastic. 'Hey, I'm seeing Pete Loaf tonight.' 'Meat Loaf? Awesome, I love Bat Out of Hell!' 'No, Pete Loaf. No relation.'
2. The Smiths Indeed. A tribute band paying homage to The Smiths, naturally.
4. Gabba. I’ll admit, I didn’t pick this one for its odd name as much as for the quirky concept: ABBA songs, performed in a Ramones style. Here's their take on 'Mamma Mia.'
5. Beatallica. Similar to Gabba, Beatallica takes Beatles classics and reimagines them in Metallica’s heavy metal style. Check out their version of 'All You Need is Blood.' Does it make me a bad Beatles fan if I kinda enjoy it?
6. No. I’ll leave it to you to guess which iconic band this tribute group is channeling. I’m not sure there’s a real need for a tribute band for these guys, but maybe they just aren't my cup of tea...
7. We Got the Meat. Yep... it’s the Go-Go's, but with a male twist.
8. Coverboy (Loverboy). Another one I’m not sure there's a big demand for...
9. Alanish. A clever name for a band that covers Alanis Morissette's songs. Although, if you tell people you're seeing Alanish, they might assume you mistakenly booked tickets for Alanis but now have a bit of a lisp.
10. Austrian Death Machine. Similar to Gabba, this one’s all about the concept. The band performs songs in the unmistakable style of Arnold Schwarzenegger, drawing inspiration from his famous movie one-liners. My personal favorite? 'It’s Not a Tumor' from their debut album Total Brutal.
