Although LEGO pieces don’t feature floral designs or white wicker finishes, fans of The Golden Girls have passionately expressed their wish to see Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, Sophia, and even Stan immortalized as miniature plastic figures.
Through the LEGO Ideas program, where enthusiasts propose and vote on new LEGO set concepts, Samuel Hatmaker (a devoted LEGO fan and New York City-based professional in product development and marketing, known online as lostsleep) has submitted a creative idea. His proposal envisions a Miami-Bricksburg fusion, recreating the iconic foyer, living room, and kitchen of the ladies’ Florida home. The twist? The house is designed as a TV set, complete with a missing wall for a playful, meta touch.
With 343 days remaining in the voting period, the Golden Girls LEGO Set has already garnered support from 10,000 fans—the threshold required for LEGO to consider the idea seriously. This approach has proven successful before, as seen with the creation of the LEGO Doctor Who set, which also originated from a LEGO Ideas submission.
Hatmaker’s next step is a LEGO Review, where a panel of designers and marketers will assess the set’s market potential. If approved, the product will enter global production, with Hatmaker earning royalties and the pride of being its creator.
“I’ve recreated numerous iconic moments from the series,” Hatmaker shares, “such as Burt Reynolds’ cameo, Rose accidentally breaking Blanche’s vase, Dorothy’s appearance on ‘Grab That Dough,’ and Rose saving her Teddy bear from a mischievous child.” The meticulous attention to detail in this proposed set reveals Hatmaker’s deep passion for the show—and yes, he even included the famous cheesecake.
