Moving to a new town or city can evoke either the thrill of a fresh start or the overwhelming task of packing up all your belongings into a truck. Interestingly, some towns across the country, in efforts to revitalize their communities, are offering actual cash incentives to attract new residents.
If you're newly graduated and free from ties to a specific community or job, the idea of loading up a moving truck might not seem so daunting after all.
As reported by Cameron Huddleston from Kiplinger, these programs are emerging from small towns, a budding city, and even entire states. The incentives range from student loan repayments and tax rebates to free land and rent allowances. These benefits are significant, with cash rebates reaching up to $12,000 for new constructions and student loan assistance nearing $3,500.
Kiplinger points out four locations that are worth considering for these opportunities:
Harmony, MN
Niagara Falls, NY
Various locations throughout Kansas
Detroit, MI
If you're ready for a major change and could use some support during the move, take a look at the Kiplinger article for all the details.
