Bath time is a ritual that many parents know well, and it’s not always easy to get my 4-year-old and 2.5-year-old excited about the tub. So, I often use little tricks to make it feel like something special.

(Of course, these tricks don’t always work. For instance, the lovely Japanese bath crayons that worked a little too well and had me scrubbing the tub a bit more than usual.)
One day, when I was at a local pharmacy with my kids and they noticed a large display of bright, oversized bath bombs, I didn’t hesitate to grab some. They were cute, affordable, and each large bomb was individually wrapped with a little surprise inside (like a necklace charm) — a perfect incentive to get the kids to sit still for hair washing or face scrubbing without any complaints.
And it worked. After just one bath bomb-filled session, it was clear I’d need to stock up for those tough moments, tantrums, and special occasions. So, I searched online for the ones I had purchased and was thrilled to find a treasure chest of them at Target.
These bath bombs come from Da Bomb, a Minneapolis-based company founded in 2011 by two sisters, aged 10 and 11 at the time, who loved bath bombs but wanted to make them more exciting by adding a surprise. Now the sisters are in college and their products are available at many major retailers.
Target offers a wide selection of these affordable bath bombs in different sizes and themes, including ones for fans of Spiderman, Barbie, and Hot Wheels. There are also tropical-inspired options and small variety packs that are perfect for moms like me who want to keep a stash on hand. Most of the reviews I checked on Target were positive, with many earning 4 stars or higher and hundreds of glowing testimonials.

“I received this as a Christmas gift and the scent was incredible. I could smell it from the hallway while I was filling the tub. It turned the bath water yellow, which looked like pee, but I still loved it. The surprise inside was awesome, though I couldn’t figure out where to enter the code for it.” —DT76
“This was in my daughter’s stocking, and she absolutely adored it. The scent was nice, though I couldn't quite place it. I expected the water to change colors as it fizzed, but it stayed yellow. It had a colorful plastic heart inside, which my daughter loved, and she was asking for more the very next day.” —Katie
“My kids are crazy about these, and they smell fantastic.” —JessicaK
