If you’re unaware, Apple Reminders has introduced numerous new features in recent years, making it a highly capable to-do list application. However, it isn’t flawless: notably, it lacks a menu bar icon for quick access to your reminders and a universal keyboard shortcut for swiftly adding tasks. The free Reminders Menu Bar app resolves these issues so effortlessly that it feels like an official Apple product.
To begin, download and open the app. Once you grant the required permissions, clicking the new menu bar icon will display your current tasks. You can also type a task directly and press enter to add it to your Inbox. The app even supports natural language due dates, allowing you to input something like "complete the presentation by Friday" and it will automatically set the due date accordingly.

Your current tasks are displayed at the top, with all your lists following below. You can customize what appears by using the filter button located at the bottom-left corner.

The app offers minimal but sufficient options. By clicking the gear icon on the bottom-right, you can adjust settings such as launching at login, choosing between dark or light mode, and selecting your preferred menu bar icon.

Additionally, you have the option to set up a personalized keyboard shortcut.

Activating the shortcut will bring up the menu bar icon, allowing you to instantly type a new task. This functionality introduces a feature absent in Apple Reminders: the capability to swiftly add tasks without launching the full app. Every leading task management tool, including Todoist, Omnifocus, and TickTick, incorporates a similar feature. Now, with Apple Reminders Menu Bar, you can enjoy this convenience within Apple Reminders as well.
