Chrome: I’m not a fan of hunting for coupons, but I do love saving money. That’s why I’m a fan of Honey, a browser extension that automatically applies the best coupon codes during checkout. What’s even better is that they recently launched an update allowing you to track price drops on Amazon.
Currently, this update only works on desktops with Chrome extension 9.9.4 or higher. (However, the extension is available for Safari, Firefox, and Opera too.) Hopefully, it will be available for everyone soon. On any Amazon product page, a Honey icon appears asking if you’d like to add the item to your DropList (see image above). Simply click it, and Honey will monitor the price for a set time and alert you when the price drops, ensuring you buy at the lowest price.
The default tracking period is thirty days, but they’ll notify you in advance if you want to keep tracking the price. You do need to sign up for a Honey account, and then you can check your DropList by logging into their website and navigating to DropList. It functions similarly to other price tracking tools (like CamelCamelCamel), but I appreciate that Honey offers two benefits: I already use it for coupon automation, and now this is just one more feature to help me secure the best deal.
Not everyone has had the same success with Honey—some have tried it and reported that it never found any coupons for them—but I’ve saved a decent amount with it. It works best with big retailers that frequently have coupon codes available. If you’ve stopped using it, this update could be a reason to give it another go (though other price tracking tools can do the job too).
If you're already using the extension, you'll notice the new feature the next time you visit Amazon. If you're not yet a Honey user, simply sign up through the link below and download the extension for your browser. It's available for the desktop versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera.
