Gabor Kasza's latest photography book isn't exactly light reading. As reported by Co. Design, the publication is encased in a solid concrete slipcase that mirrors the concrete theme inside.
The Budapest-based photographer specializes in capturing landscapes and architecture. Two years ago, he began a project called 'Concrete passages about closeness and coldness…and a couple of songs,' which explores the raw beauty of concrete spaces. Now, he’s using Indiegogo to raise funds to turn these images into a book.
When not perusing its pages, readers can store the book in its sturdy concrete cover. The case is four millimeters thick and weighs a little over three pounds—too hefty for the subway, but ideal for your coffee table. The exterior resists water, oil, and UV light, while the interior is lined with red paper. Kasza explains, 'The book's design evokes the same unfinished feel as the buildings depicted in the photos.'
There are just nine days left in the crowdfunding campaign, and Kasza has already raised 20 percent of his €7000 ($7680) goal. A copy of the book with its concrete slipcase can be reserved with a pledge of around $150, with shipments scheduled for June.
