Tax season tends to sneak up on you, but this time, you have a bit more breathing room. You’ve got an extra three days to file your taxes.
The IRS announced:
Taxpayers now have until
Monday, April 18
to file their 2015 tax returns and settle any taxes owed due to the Emancipation Day holiday in Washington, D.C., which falls on Friday, April 15.
Residents of Maine and Massachusetts have until Tuesday, April 19
due to Patriot’s Day celebrations on April 18.
While it’s never a great idea to procrastinate on taxes, it’s always a relief to get a few extra days before the deadline. When you’re ready, we’ve compiled the five top tools for tax preparation, and the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) offers free tax help for low to moderate income households.
