While most UFO sightings are reported by a single observer, making it difficult to persuade others that the experience wasn't just a product of the mind, some extraordinary encounters occur in the presence of numerous witnesses—completely altering the narrative.
Even if these occurrences aren't extraterrestrial, the sheer number of people who observed these events at the same time implies that something unusual happened. More significantly, it suggests these phenomena can't simply be chalked up to imagination.
10. Hudson Valley Sightings New York, Early 1980s

In late June 1983, just before the Fourth of July festivities began, the sky over New York's Hudson Valley was lit up by fireworks. Amid the bursts of color, a deep humming sound emerged, followed by a massive disc-shaped craft—its size comparable to the span of 16 or 17 houses!
As the object hovered above the onlookers, the eerie hum stopped, and the craft remained suspended in the air in unnerving silence. Minutes later, the hum returned, and the disc rapidly shot off into the sky.
This was just one of several UFO sightings in the Hudson Valley during the early 1980s. However, it wasn't the only incident with multiple witnesses to the strange event.
On March 24, 1983, reports of a bizarre craft and strange lights in the sky over Yorktown flooded in so rapidly that the town's switchboard nearly crashed. That evening, the Taconic Parkway was brought to a standstill, with drivers leaving their cars to stare in awe at the UFO soaring above them.
9. Arthur Kill River Incident New Jersey Turnpike, 2001

On the night of July 14, into the early hours of July 15, 2001, at least 15 witnesses observed unusual golden-orange lights over the Arthur Kill River along the New Jersey Turnpike. These lights appeared to be arranged in a V-formation, though it was unclear whether they were individual objects or part of a single large craft shaped like a V.
Other witnesses described the lights as being more 'scattered' in formation, gradually fading one by one into the night sky. Newark Airport was contacted, but no unusual activity was detected on their radar. The National Weather Service also confirmed that there was nothing out of the ordinary with the weather that evening.
Veronica Bagley was able to capture the lights on video. Meanwhile, Patty Ercallino, another observer, described the experience as 'very peaceful, very serene, and very beautiful.' She even went so far as to believe they had witnessed 'some type of miracle!'
8. The Cosford Incident Western England, 1993

UFO expert Nick Pope reported that over 100 individuals, including active police officers and military personnel, witnessed a UFO on the evening of March 30 and into the early hours of March 31, 1993, in western England. Pope personally worked on the investigation during his time with the British Ministry of Defense.
Many sightings described triangular-shaped crafts soaring through the night sky at incredible speeds. One witness, a policeman, was with a group of scouts on the Quantock Hills in Somerset. They described the objects as 'like two Concordes flying side by side and connected together!'
Additional sightings were reported in Cornwall, Devon, West Midlands, and even over two RAF bases in Shropshire—RAF Shawbury and RAF Cosford. Neither base was able to detect the mysterious craft on radar. At the time, Pope deemed the situation to be of 'considerable defense significance,' urging for further investigation.
7. Ellsworth Air Force Base Sighting South Dakota, 1953

On the evening of August 5, 1953, multiple military personnel witnessed a UFO near Ellsworth Air Force Base. Additionally, 45 concerned residents from nearby towns also observed the strange events unfolding.
The first sighting occurred just after 8:00 PM in the town of Blackhawk. Mrs. Kellian, a volunteer member of the Ground Observer Corps, noticed a peculiar glowing red light in the clear night sky.
Following her training, she immediately reported the sighting. She was then connected to the on-duty radar operator at Ellsworth Air Force Base.
The craft was clearly detected on radar, heading directly toward the base. An F-84 jet fighter patrolling the area was dispatched to intercept the object. However, as the F-84 closed to within 5 kilometers (3 miles) of the disc-shaped craft, the UFO rapidly sped away.
Though the F-84 attempted to give chase, it was unable to match the UFO's speed and returned to Ellsworth. A second F-84 was sent out, and the pilot confirmed visually seeing the object. However, this jet also struggled to keep up and suffered unusual malfunctions in its aircraft.
6. Exeter New Hampshire, 1965

In the early hours of September 3, 1965, Norman Muscarello was hitchhiking home to Exeter, New Hampshire. As he made his way along Route 150, searching for his next ride, he noticed an unusual light in the dark sky. Within seconds, the light began heading straight toward him.
Worried that the strange craft might hit him, Muscarello threw himself onto the ground by the roadside. However, just in time, the UFO changed direction. Muscarello quickly stood up and fled the area as fast as he could.
About an hour earlier, just a short distance away, Eugene Bertrand, a policeman on duty, spotted a parked car on the side of the road. Inside, a woman was panicked, claiming that she had been pursued by a 'flying object.'
Bertrand reassured the woman, telling her there was no reason to be concerned. He genuinely believed she had made a mistake and continued on his way.
Around 3:00 AM, Muscarello arrived at the Exeter Police Station. Shortly thereafter, Bertrand returned, listened to the story, and then drove Muscarello back to Route 150 to investigate the situation further.
After pulling over on the same stretch of road, the two men quickly spotted the mysterious craft. Just as it had before, the object approached them. Feeling uneasy, the men rushed back to the police car. Soon after, multiple calls reporting new sightings began pouring in.
5. The Greifswald Lights Germany, 1990

Strange spherical lights had been spotted regularly along the Baltic Sea coast starting in early August 1990. By August 24, the lights seemed to have moved inland, with residents of Greifswald, a coastal town in eastern Germany, reporting sightings.
At first, the peculiar spheres remained almost motionless in the sky for about 30 minutes. Many witnesses managed to capture both photographs and video footage. This case is considered one of the most well-documented UFO sightings.
The lights seemed to form two distinct groups. The first set created a circle and remained mostly stationary, only shifting together as a single unit when they did move. The second group of lights appeared in the shape of a Y, and notably, they moved independently of each other.
Neither the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) nor mainstream scientists have been able to provide a concrete or convincing explanation for the phenomenon.
4. Fort Beaufort South Africa, 1972

Bennie Smit was certain that he and his workers had observed a strange craft hovering over his farm on June 26, 1972. However, he was adamant that the object they had seen was a top-secret military craft, not something from another world.
Smit’s farm was located approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Fort Beaufort, a town in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. On that particular June morning, Smit discovered his workers hiding in a shed, claiming that something unusual was hovering above the trees in one of the fields.
Smit went to investigate and indeed spotted the strange object. Without hesitation, the farmer aimed his .303 rifle at it and fired. He was certain his shot was accurate and that he hit the target, but the bullets had no visible impact on the object.
Smit then contacted the local police, who arrived just as the object was landing on the ground. The UFO appeared to resemble the shape of an oil drum, with three clearly visible 'legs' beneath it.
One of the officers, Sergeant Kitching, also fired his weapon at the craft. This time, the object seemed to respond, as it began changing colors—from black to green, then to yellow, and finally to a pale white hue.
The witnesses reported hearing a 'whirring' sound just before the craft ascended from the field and disappeared from sight.
3. The Trindade UFO Incident 1958

In October 1957, the Brazilian navy established a scientific research station on the island of Trindade. By January 1958, the personnel stationed there had witnessed some of the most bizarre UFO sightings in the history of the 20th century.
After the base was set up, the crew began reporting strange silvery objects that appeared to be monitoring their activities. On the morning of New Year’s Day 1958, the entire garrison witnessed a mysterious light moving across the sky. The very next evening, a glowing object circled one of the navy’s ships for 10 minutes, executing sharp and exact turns as it did so.
On January 6, Commander Carlos A. Bacellar launched a weather balloon. However, he soon realized that the expected signals were no longer being transmitted. When he looked up, he saw the balloon being “sucked up” into a cloud and vanishing from sight.
Ten minutes later, the object reappeared, but this time without its instruments. Shortly after, a silvery object emerged from the same cloud and slowly drifted away from the scene.
On January 16, the full crew of a navy vessel stationed off the island’s coast observed an unusual, brightly shining object. It moved across the sky over the ship and headed toward the island. One of the witnesses managed to capture several photographs of the mysterious craft in flight. Once developed, these photographs were quickly made public.
2. Mass UFO Sighting During Baseball Game Vancouver, Canada, 2013

During a minor league baseball game between the Vancouver Canadians and the Everett AquaSox in 2013, hundreds of spectators were drawn away from the action as a strange object appeared in the sky above the field.
The UFO had a triangular shape, with lights encircling its edges. Even the players noticed the aerial phenomenon. After the game, one player took to social media to share his thoughts on the “alien spaceship” that had been witnessed.
Numerous photos and videos quickly appeared online, though no official explanation was provided at first. A local newspaper, however, suggested that the UFO might have been—though they didn’t state it definitively—a remote-controlled helicopter.
The real story behind the so-called “UFO” came to light a few weeks later. It turned out that the entire incident was a publicity stunt designed to promote a new planetarium theater at the H.R. MacMillan Space Center in Vancouver.
Perhaps that’s the reason Vancouver recorded more UFO sightings in 2013 than any other city in Canada.
1. Sighting Over Houston Goes Viral Online Houston, Texas, 2014

On August 11, 2014, hundreds of people in Houston witnessed a circle of lights in the evening sky. The images quickly spread across social media. When video footage surfaced online, it became clear that the lights were moving independently, not remaining a fixed circle as originally thought.
Dr. Carolyn Sumners, a prominent figure at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, warned that it would be premature to jump to conclusions about the mysterious object being an extraterrestrial visitor. She emphasized that, in the case of UFO sightings, it's important to explore alternative explanations rather than immediately attributing them to aliens. Despite this, no official theory or explanation has been provided so far.
Those who witnessed the event have their own theories about what happened. Unsurprisingly, many are convinced that the lights were of alien origin. Others, however, speculate that they might have been a government drone or simply a reflection from a nearby football stadium’s lights.
