1. Velvet Nails
Introduced in 2024, velvet nails bring a luxurious, rich depth and captivating allure, regardless of the chosen color. Created using magnetic polishes, they mimic the plush texture of velvet fabric, offering a unique and elegant look.
“This versatile trend fits seamlessly into any season by simply selecting a shade that complements the time of year,” explains Mazz Hanna, celebrity manicurist and CEO of Nailing Hollywood. “Deep jewel tones like emerald and burgundy are perfect for winter, while light pastels are ideal for spring.”
2. Glazed Nails
In stark contrast to velvet nails, the ultra-minimalist glazed nails emerged as a major trend in 2024. Their simplicity and versatility make them a timeless choice for manicures that will remain popular for years to come.
“Their enduring charm guarantees their staying power,” says Christina Kao, nail expert and co-founder of Le Mini Macaron. “This trend brings a refined, understated elegance to a basic manicure, making it polished, elevated, and effortlessly stylish. It perfectly complements the ongoing ‘demure’ aesthetic.”
3. Chrome Manicures
From metallic silver tips to Moscow Mule nails, chrome finishes made a huge splash in 2024.
“This trend is here to stay because of the endless possibilities with new techniques and color options,” says Leslie Ayala, nail expert and founder of Nail Witch Studios in Miami, Fla. “Chrome is now seen as an additional accessory for your hands, thanks to its dazzling, mirror-like shine.”
4. Cherry Mocha Nails
Brown nails dominated 2024, with cherry mocha emerging as a standout variation that captured widespread attention.
“Cherry mocha nails surged in popularity after a TikTok video featuring DND’s ‘Cherry Mocha’ shade went viral, and the trend continues to gain momentum,” Hanna explains. “This deep burgundy hue with subtle purple undertones looks especially striking on short to medium almond or rounded nails, as the gentle shape enhances the color’s richness.”
5. Textured 3D Nails
In 2024, nails became a true fashion accessory, with textured designs and 3D elements leading the way. Ayala predicts this trend will remain popular for years to come.
“Textured nails are crafted using a thick, pliable gel that delivers a sleek and stylish finish. It elevates any design, adding a realistic and captivating touch. Additionally, 3D gel is available in a wide range of colors, both opaque and translucent, making it versatile and exciting to incorporate into any nail art,” she adds.

While bold and extravagant designs made waves in 2024 (think brat green nails and an abundance of bows), a parallel trend of minimalism emerged, which experts believe will remain a favorite for years to come.
“Minimalist nail art showcases subtle designs such as delicate lines, tiny dots, or understated geometric shapes, creating a polished and contemporary look,” Hanna notes. “It’s highly versatile, complements any wardrobe, and transitions effortlessly between seasons, ensuring its timeless appeal for 2024 and beyond.”
7. Soap Nails
When it comes to minimalism, soap nails truly stand out. Inspired by the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic, this manicure style keeps things effortlessly simple with a sheer, soft pink tint applied to well-shaped, buffed, and filed medium to short nails.
8. Aura Nails
A fresh take on ombre nails, aura manicures became a sensation on #nailtok this year, featuring a radiant halo effect that starts at the center and blends outward. Its simplicity, striking appearance, and versatility with countless color combinations make it a strong contender for a timeless manicure staple.
9. Clean Ombre Nails
Referred to as the “modern French,” clean ombre nails were a huge hit in 2024. “The ombre technique gave a classic style a contemporary update,” Ayala explains. “I believe ombre nails will always remain trendy because they enhance the traditional French manicure, offering endless variations and a seamless, line-free look.”
10. Mermaid Nails
Mermaid-inspired nails have fluctuated in popularity over the years, but 2024 marked a significant resurgence. “Mermaid nails were a standout trend this summer, showcasing iridescent, velvety, or holographic finishes in soft pastel shades,” Kao shares. “Pinterest trends suggest that the ‘sea witchery’ aesthetic will continue to influence fashion and beauty into the next year.”
