According to CNBC, the United States dominates the list of the wealthiest urban areas, with six of the top 10 cities located within its borders. New York leads the pack, home to 120,605 individuals with a net worth exceeding $5 million, representing over 4 percent of the world's wealthy population.
Tokyo secures the second spot, with 81,645 residents holding a net worth of at least $5 million. Hong Kong follows in third place, boasting 73,430 affluent inhabitants. Other U.S. cities featured on the list are Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Dallas. The remaining two cities in the top 10—London and Paris—are the sole European representatives.
The list was created using data from Wealth-X, a firm that analyzed global wealth trends over the last ten years. While cities with a high concentration of wealthy individuals often have steep living costs, the wealthiest cities globally aren't necessarily the priciest to reside in.
