While some avoid anything related to the supernatural, others eagerly seek out opportunities to create their own ghostly encounters. If you’ve already explored some of the nation’s creepiest libraries and highways, consider an overnight stay at one of America’s most haunted hotels. Travel platform Hotels.com identified these destinations by analyzing guest reviews.
This list features 13 locations rumored to be haunted. Based on Hotels.com reviews, Texas is a hotspot for paranormal enthusiasts, boasting three entries in the top 10. Louisiana and California each have two haunted hotels on the list.
Leading the ranking is the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Numerous guests have reported sightings of friendly spirits, such as a young girl who playfully tapped a man’s foot to wake him. While not the scariest option, this hotel is perfect for those seeking a memorable and spine-tingling tale.
Ranking second is Hotel Provincial, also located in New Orleans. According to Hotels.com, Building 5 is a hotspot for ghost hunters, as it once served as a military hospital and is now said to be frequented by the spirits of Confederate soldiers. Guests have reported unsettling physical interactions, including a spirit that allegedly shoved a 15-year-old out of her bed.
In third place is the Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles, a favorite for those hoping to spot celebrity apparitions. The most famous spectral resident is Marilyn Monroe, the iconic actress and model, who is said to wander room 1200 and other areas of the hotel.
