Celebrities share the same passion for their pets as the rest of us, with some dogs even achieving fame themselves. These furry stars often outshine their owners on red carpets and gain massive followings on social media. For instance, Brisket, Glen Powell’s adored rescue dog, became a standout during the 2024 Twisters press tour, even landing a parody Vogue cover, humorously dubbed Dogue.
A recent survey by Bored Panda reveals that mixed-breed dogs, like Brisket, a terrier-poodle mix, are the most common among celebrities. This trend aligns with the growing popularity of adopting rescue pets, many of which are mixed breeds. Celebrities, recognizing their influence, have championed the “adopt, don’t shop” movement, promoting a positive shift in pet ownership.
French bulldogs rank just behind mixed breeds in popularity among celebrities, according to Bored Panda’s analysis of 2,303 celebrities and their 3,305 dogs. The study found 280 mixed-breed dogs and 245 French bulldogs, with Megan Thee Stallion’s Frenchie, e, standing out for boasting over 500,000 Instagram followers.
German shepherds secure third place with 154 celebrity owners, as reported by German Shepherd Shop. Notable fans include Reese Witherspoon and Nick Jonas. Labradors, Chihuahuas, and golden retrievers follow closely with counts of 149, 148, and 139, respectively.
How do these findings compare to general dog breed popularity? The results align closely. The American Kennel Club’s 2023 edition, released in April 2024, also ranks French bulldogs first, followed by Labradors, golden retrievers, and German shepherds. Once more, celebrities mirror the preferences of the general public.
