Hearing your neighbor belt out Miley Cyrus's 'Party in the U.S.A.' every morning in the shower? Trust me, you're not alone.
A UK bathroom company, ShowerstoYou, analyzed 530 Spotify playlists with the word shower and discovered that Miley Cyrus's 2009 hit 'Party in the U.S.A.' dominated 97% of them—more than any other track. It seems many enjoy grooving to upbeat tunes while scrubbing away: The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' secured second place, while Shakira's 'Hips Don’t Lie,' Doja Cat's 'Say So,' and Dua Lipa's 'Don’t Start Now' also ranked in the top 20.
For others, shower time is all about belting out emotional ballads. Leona Lewis's 'Bleeding Love' featured on 82% of playlists, Bruno Mars's 'Grenade' appeared on 72%, and Adele's 'Hello' challenged 57% of playlist creators to hit those soaring notes.
Becky G’s 2014 pop anthem “Shower” is arguably the most fitting track on this list, as the lyrics reference “singing in the shower” a total of 12 times. While the top 20 is dominated by modern hits, two nostalgic gems stand out: TLC’s 1999 hit “No Scrubs” and Toto’s timeless “Africa.”
Beyond analyzing Spotify playlists, Showerstoyou also polled 2329 individuals to determine their preferred genre for solo shower performances. Pop music emerged as the top choice with 55%, trailed by rap (19%) and R&B (10%).
