This summer, showcased at Miami Swim Week 2024, we're seeing a rise in the timeless one-piece (both versatile and stylish), paired with textures like shimmering materials, crocheted fabrics, and playful hardware. Also trending are sarongs and coverups, many of which double as casual wear off the beach.
We’ve gathered the top swimwear looks for the season, inspired by the biggest runway trends from Miami Swim Week 2024 and Art Hearts Fashion, along with insights from leading swimsuit designers.
1. Charming One-Pieces

One-piece swimsuits have become increasingly popular over the past few years, with swimwear brands experimenting with innovative silhouettes, cutouts, textures, and prints.
“Their versatility and comfort are major selling points, making them a top choice for many,” says Stella Green, founder and CEO of Sanori Swim. Since our collection launched on June 26, both of our new one-piece designs have been outselling bikini sets nearly two to one.” She also mentions that people are styling one-pieces as bodysuits, pairing them with casual linen pants or jeans.
2. Shiny Fabrics

This season, swimwear designed from lustrous fabrics have become extremely popular. “These shimmery materials stun in sunlight but also beautifully enhance the body’s natural curves with their reflective qualities,” Green says.
3. Tennis Chic

If you score some tennis-inspired swimwear this summer you’ll be right in line with the rest. “Color-blocked designs are a classic and chic look, offering timeless elegance reminiscent of country club sophistication,” says Niveen Carrero, founder of Adicora Swimwear. Along with color blocking, think swim dresses and skirts, clean lines, and racer backs.
4. Matching Sarongs

“The coordinated look is a major trend this season, with sarongs crafted from the same fabric as the swimwear taking the spotlight,” Green observes. “These matching sarongs are perfect for effortlessly moving from beach relaxation to a meal at your favorite beachside restaurant.”
5. All-Purpose Coverups

Swimsuit coverups are no longer just beachwear; they’ve become a bold fashion statement all on their own.
“Lightweight, breezy fabrics are becoming more popular, alongside innovative designs that easily transition into casual wear,” says Sienna Gomez, founder of Sienna Swim. Many are pairing these pieces with jeans, skirts, and even heels. “This trend highlights a growing demand for practicality and sustainability, allowing women to smoothly shift from sunbathing on the beach to an evening out with friends.”
6. Crochet Touch

Crochet has become a staple in fashion recently, and this season, swimwear is embracing its own take on the trend, notes Carerro. One of the brand's crocheted bikinis is among their bestsellers this year. Beyond swimsuits, crochet is also a popular choice for coverups and sarongs.
7. Gold Hardware Accents

Gold hardware details are adding a touch of sophistication and luxury to swimwear this season. “Elements like gold clasps, rings, and dainty chains bring an understated elegance, which become even more striking when paired with matching gold jewelry,” Green tells us.
Bold Prints are making waves in the world of swimwear this season.

Textures are undeniably trending in 2024 swimwear, but bold prints are also making a strong comeback. Designers are playing with striking patterns, such as paisley and safari, that have found a devoted following among shoppers.
These fresh patterns bring a bold and adventurous touch, allowing customers to express their unique style and stand out confidently, says Gomez. “They embody optimism and nostalgia, giving swimwear fashion a modern twist.”
Minimalist Chic is making a statement in swimwear this season.

In contrast to the season's vibrant colors and intricate textures, minimalist swimsuits are rising in popularity. These designs focus on clean lines and subtle elegance, with a preference for neutral tones, giving consumers the freedom to choose their personal style or experiment with variations.
