Selecting the perfect DSLR can be a daunting challenge. With numerous brands and models on the market, coupled with endless advice on what to purchase, the decision becomes even more complex. Factors like budget, intended use, and the photographer's expertise play a significant role in determining the ideal choice. Last week, we invited you to suggest the DSLRs you considered the best. We compiled your suggestions into the top five DSLRs and conducted a vote to identify the Mytour community's favorite. Today, we reveal the winner.
This week, the competition was incredibly tight, with first, second, and third place separated by just a few votes—first and second place differed by only five votes. This highlights the importance of participating in the nomination process: a few votes can determine whether a model makes the top five or not, and even the difference between first and second place can come down to a handful of votes.
The Canon EOS 5D emerged as the winner in our poll, securing 27.76% of the total votes. Many of you praised it as Canon's flagship prosumer camera, a well-established and highly popular line that has stood the test of time.
The 5D narrowly edged out the second-place contender, the budget-friendly Canon EOS Rebel T3i, by a mere 0.09% of the total vote. The Rebel T3i garnered 27.67% of the votes. In third place was the Nikon D800, which received just over 25% of the votes. The Nikon D600 followed with slightly more than 10% of the votes, while the newly released Canon EOS 6D secured just over 9% of the total votes.
The Hive Five selections are driven by reader input. Like most Hive Five entries, if your top pick isn't featured, it's not due to any bias—it simply didn't receive enough nominations in the initial call for contenders to secure a spot in the top five. While this process can feel like a popularity contest, we value your input and encourage you to share your favorites. Have a suggestion for the Hive Five? Email us at [email protected]!
