Temptations to splurge are everywhere. If you're on a tight budget and the urge to spend strikes, shift your focus to something more productive. Claire Murdough from Ready For Zero suggests clearing out clutter the next time you feel the need to buy.
Claire suggests:
Rather than buying new things, take a moment to sift through what you already have... and get rid of the items you no longer need or use. Clear out those miscellaneous piles that have taken up permanent residence in your closet. If you have enough items, consider organizing a yard sale or donating them to a local center. Seeing the things you've spent money on that no longer serve you can be a wake-up call.
I love this idea because it helps you redirect your impulse and declutter your life at the same time. Alternatively, if you're feeling the urge to splurge, tackle something from your "Forever List"—that ongoing to-do list of tasks you keep putting off.
