Twitch streaming functionality has been reintroduced to Xbox systems. Microsoft previously removed Twitch support in 2017 to focus on its now-discontinued Mixer platform. However, Xbox gamers can now effortlessly watch and stream on Twitch directly from their Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S interface, eliminating the need for additional hardware or software. Additionally, Xbox users can receive live notifications when their favorite streamers start broadcasting.
While the reintroduction of Twitch on Xbox One and Series X/S is a positive development, users must first connect their Twitch account to their Xbox to begin streaming.
Steps to connect your Twitch account to Xbox
Access the Xbox guide on your Xbox One or Series X/S and navigate to the “Capture and Share” section.
Choose “Live Streaming.”
You’ll be asked to connect your Twitch account. This can be done by scanning the QR code using your smartphone or visiting the provided URL on a PC or another internet-enabled device.
Log in to Twitch when prompted and follow any additional on-screen steps to finalize the setup.
Once your account is linked, you can receive notifications on your Xbox when a streamer you follow goes live. This can be enabled in the Xbox guide under Settings > Preferences > Notifications.
Steps to start streaming on Twitch from an Xbox console

Ensure your microphone/headset and webcam (if available) are connected to your console and set up correctly.
Open the Xbox guide menu, navigate to the “Capture and Share” tab, and select “Live Streaming.”
A window will appear allowing you to set your stream title and configure audio and video settings, including mic and gameplay audio levels, as well as video bitrate and resolution.
Once your settings are adjusted, click “Go Live,” and you’ll be broadcasting on Twitch.
Streaming directly from your Xbox may not provide the extensive customization options available on a PC or laptop, such as visual layouts or transitions, but it offers a straightforward and hassle-free setup. Essential features like on-screen Twitch chat, viewer count, and quick-access menus for adjusting mic and video settings are conveniently accessible from the Xbox dashboard. Additionally, a built-in “pause screen” ensures your video feed is hidden when you access menus to modify settings or switch games, safeguarding your privacy during streams.
