A while back, we curated a ranking of the Top 10 Most Commented On Lists. This compilation, like our other meta-lists, gained decent traction, with the Top 10 Stephen King Books leading the pack at 240 comments. Interestingly, that list now sits at 9th place in our updated ranking. With Christmas behind us and our site celebrating its first six months, it felt like the perfect time to revisit this topic. Below, you’ll find our all-time top 10 most discussed lists.
10. Top 10 Most Evil Men in History
Total Comments: 239
This is quite intriguing – in the earlier ranking of most popular comments, the Top 10 Most Evil Women held the 3rd spot with 184 comments. Surprisingly, it’s now absent, while the evil men have taken the stage. As expected, George Bush Junior sparked heated discussions in the comments, which never fails to stir controversy. And controversy we got! Loose_Cannon, Bucslim, and Frank engaged in a lively debate about 9/11, Bush, and someone named Dick Cheney (I’m not familiar with him). It’s an entertaining read – don’t miss it! And, like it or not, Josef Stalin remains firmly in the top spot!

9. Your Opinion: Which Movie Has Had the Greatest Impact?
Total Comments: 239
To date, we’ve only published 7 Your View posts, and this one ranks as number 5. It generated significant interest among our readers, likely because many of them consider themselves film enthusiasts in some capacity. While we didn’t definitively settle on the greatest movie, Citizen Kane came close (and thankfully, it was my choice!). If you’re at home pondering which films to watch, dive into the comments on this list. I’m confident ThePirateBay has something for everyone!

This is the sole list that has appeared on both the original and this updated ranking of most-commented lists. It’s evident that Stephen King has a massive fanbase on List Universe. In fact, this list not only featured on the initial most-commented list but also claimed the top spot! While a competition offering a book to every 100 commenters certainly boosted engagement, the list’s quality and the universal love for a good scare played a significant role in its success.

7. Top 10 Discontinued Sodas

It’s no surprise this list performed so well – who doesn’t enjoy a refreshing soda on a scorching summer day? Thankfully, many of our readers fondly recall the 80s, a vibrant decade when these discontinued sodas were at their peak. Our only misstep? Omitting Pepsi Blue. A big shoutout to StewWriter for this fantastic list, which ended up being his final contribution!

I’m not a fan of beer, and I’ve never hidden that fact. If I crave something bitter, I’d rather munch on dandelions. In my opinion, cocktails far surpass beer, which is why I’ve stuck to cocktail lists so far. That said, beer is undeniably popular, and this list sparked quite a bit of controversy. It was the first time I had to disable instant comments and put everyone into moderation just to keep the site running. The list even made it to the front page of Fark, bringing a massive surge of traffic in a short time. While I adore reading people’s comments, I had to temporarily disable them to manage the chaos. Thankfully, all your thoughts were shared the next morning once things calmed down.

I’ll admit – I crafted this “Your View” post fully aware of how passionate our audience is about rock music. I anticipated it would stir up quite a debate, and it certainly did! On our previous ranking of most-commented lists, the Beatles list held a prominent spot (coming in at number 2) due to a heated argument about the Beatles versus Led Zeppelin. I expected a similar reaction this time, and I wasn’t let down! Your View has now secured two top positions on this list – and it’s clearly here to stay!

Let’s face it – we’re all spending a ton of time online, which often leaves little room for cooking. The answer? Fast food! It’s no shock that a list about fast food chains would be a hit. Even those unfamiliar with many of these places loved the list because it taps into our deepest cravings – quick, affordable, convenient, and delicious! While we balance things out with lists about real food, let’s be honest, nothing quite beats a Big Mac. Kudos to BrotherMan for creating such a wildly popular list!

According to you, the best movie is The Godfather. Great choice – it was mine as well!

There were hardly any personal attacks, and I’m confident every reader learned something from the “opposing” side.
