Choosing what or where to eat with your partner becomes trickier the more you fall into a routine. To break the endless loop of “What do *you* want to eat?” try the 5-3-1 approach.
As Reddit user Mic_Check_One_Two describes, the 5-3-1 method is a three-step process that goes like this:
You provide five dinner options or meal ideas.
Your partner narrows it down to three options they’d be happy with.
You pick one from those three choices.
And just like that, dinner is decided. You can alternate who suggests the initial five options, but the key is to reduce the overwhelming choices. Whether you’re staring at the entire grocery store or trying to choose a restaurant, it can be paralyzing. This method cuts through all that. If neither of you is satisfied with the result, you can always start over.
