Ryobi One+ Cordless Jet Fan Blower
PHOTO: AmazonIt moves debris with remarkable precision and offers the longest runtime among all the cordless models we evaluated.
It is quite noisy.
This blower excels at directing debris exactly where you want it. During testing, only a minimal amount of leaves, twigs, and other items strayed, which we easily gathered later. The blower’s variable speed settings and smart design efficiently channeled all debris with impressive accuracy, outshining other machines on our list.
Although the manufacturer claims a runtime of 15 minutes, we were able to extend it to 30 minutes—twice the duration of any other cordless model we tested. It’s also light enough that we didn’t experience fatigue, and the included battery is compatible with other Ryobi lawn care tools, making it a great choice if you're planning to expand your Ryobi equipment collection.
This blower was one of the louder models we tested—comparable to the sound of a lawn mower—despite having a slower airspeed and mid-range airflow. Still, it handled all the debris it encountered without issue, even when dealing with sticks and maple leaves. The battery performed well over six months of use, and it made clearing an entire yard's worth of debris much quicker than doing it manually. We also appreciate its powerful performance, as well as its sleek color and design.

Toro Power Sweep Electric Leaf Blower
PHOTO: Home DepotIt’s compact, light, and easy to control.
It’s corded, limiting your range of motion.
We appreciate this lightweight, corded leaf blower for quick cleanups near an outdoor power outlet. Its small form factor makes it easy to handle, and its fast airflow efficiently clears away leaves and debris within the range of our extension cord. With two speed settings, you can choose between high and low airflow to match your specific needs.
We occasionally found the cord a bit of a nuisance, especially when trying to connect an extension cord and move it around as we worked. This became an ongoing issue during our long-term testing as well: while the machine is lightweight, managing a long extension cord while moving about the house can be tiresome. On the positive side, we didn’t have to worry about a drained battery or waiting for it to recharge.
Since this blower is confined by the length of its cord, it's not the best choice for large yards. It also tends to be pretty loud when operating, though this didn’t bother us. Six months later, it’s still performing flawlessly, and we’ve found it particularly useful for tasks like clearing leaves from gutters and off the deck.

Greenworks Pro Cordless Backpack Leaf Blower
PHOTO: AmazonThis blower made quick work of wet leaves on grass, and despite its heavier build, it remains comfortable to carry.
The assembly process is a bit more time-consuming than with most models.
The backpack-style design of this leaf blower distributes its 15-pound weight more evenly, relieving pressure on your arms so you can use it for longer periods without tiring. The Greenworks model stood out in our tests, performing particularly well on concrete surfaces, efficiently gathering leaves into piles for recycling, clearing debris from patios and hard surfaces, and even blowing light snow off a deck with ease.
This blower also excelled at removing wet leaves from grass, which many other models struggled with. While the manufacturer claims a 12-minute runtime on turbo mode, we managed to get 18 minutes out of it, which proved more than enough considering its speed. Over several days, we used it to clean the backyard multiple times on just a single charge, and it remained surprisingly quiet, under 100 decibels.
We appreciated the variable speed settings, especially the lower ones, which allowed for precise control when directing leaves and debris into piles. However, it did take a bit more time to assemble compared to other models, requiring a screwdriver and a few parts. Once put together, it was extremely comfortable to wear, without any wrist fatigue, and it efficiently cleared our testing areas. Even after six months, it continues to perform well.

MytourMost Silent
Dewalt's Brushless Handheld Leaf Blower
IMAGE: AmazonIt’s the quietest option in our comparison—comparable to the noise level of heavy traffic or a busy restaurant.
The battery life is somewhat limited at only 12 minutes.
If you prefer a quieter experience or need to minimize noise, this model is the most silent one in our collection. At 87 decibels, it’s similar to the sound of busy traffic or a loud restaurant. However, it’s not ideal for larger tasks since it only lasts 12 minutes on a single charge. Consider having an extra battery ready for longer jobs.
The variable speed control on this electric blower made it easier to target debris with precision. It also features a “cruise control” option, allowing you to set and maintain a specific speed without needing to hold the trigger constantly. Weighing just 7 pounds, it was light and easy to carry around the yard throughout testing. Even kids enjoyed helping out by blowing grass clippings off the driveway after mowing.
It’s slightly more expensive than some other handheld models, but given its reliable performance and the trusted Dewalt name, we feel it’s worth the investment.

MytourFinal Thoughts
Among the many high-quality electric leaf blowers we tested, the cordless Ryobi P21801 18V One+ 280 CFM Jet Fan Blower Kit stands out for its precision in blowing leaves and debris exactly where you want them, with the perfect amount of power. If you’re looking for a corded option that’s half the price, the Toro Power Sweep 51585 offers a compact, lightweight design that’s easy to handle and perfect for smaller yards.
Our Evaluation Method
We evaluated 27 leaf blowers in our lab, where we carefully assembled and weighed each one, got familiar with their controls, including variable speed settings, and measured their noise levels with a decibel meter. We assessed the ease of handling the blowers both when turned off and on, their maneuverability, and whether our clothing would get caught on the air intake.
For performance testing, we set up 10 by 10-foot areas on both grass and concrete surfaces, then scattered dry leaves across them. We started a stopwatch, powered on each blower, set them to their highest speed, and cleared the area. This test was then repeated using wet leaves.
To evaluate precision, we spread dry leaves in a garden bed, around and under plants. Each blower was set to its lowest speed to clear the area, and we looked for models that didn’t disturb the mulch or harm the plants. On concrete, we placed a small pile of dry leaves at a chalk-drawn starting line and aimed to blow them into a 6 by 6-inch chalk box located 10 feet away, using whichever attachments seemed best for the task.
For power assessment, we placed fishing line weights (0.25, 0.5, and 1 ounce) in the same setup and tested the blowers to see if they could blow them into the chalk box.
We also recorded the battery life of cordless models, the ease of swapping attachments and adjusting speeds, how comfortable the blowers were to hold, whether they vibrated during use, and if they caused fatigue. For corded models, we checked if they included a retainer to minimize tripping hazards and whether their cords were long enough to complete larger tasks.
After our initial round of testing, we brought the top performers home and used them for another six months to gather long-term data. Combining all the findings gave us our final list of the best leaf blowers.
MytourExpert Tips for Shopping for Electric Leaf Blowers
Airflow & Airspeed
Airflow is a measure of how much air a leaf blower can move in a single minute, typically quantified in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Airspeed, on the other hand, indicates how fast that air moves and is expressed in miles per hour (MPH).
“[CFM] is a really solid metric for evaluating how well your blower will perform,” says Aaron Cook, owner of Landscapes Plus in Louisville, Kentucky. In general, larger airflow and airspeed figures tend to be better. “We’re pushing large piles of leaves across yards, and it makes a big difference when you have a blower that can move a massive volume of air,” he explains.
This is exactly why a variable speed trigger is so crucial. Without the ability to adjust the airspeed, it becomes much harder to direct debris accurately to a specific area.
“Leaf collection and blowing is an art,” says Cook. He teaches his team to “feather the trigger” and modulate the power to ensure the leaves end up in the right spot for collection. Our top overall pick, the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 280 CFM Jet Fan Blower Kit, features a variable speed trigger for enhanced precision.
Battery Life & Charge Time
Cook mentions that it typically takes just 10 to 15 minutes to clean up an average-sized lawn. During our testing, we found that most battery-powered leaf blowers lasted 15 minutes or less, with a few exceptions. Our top pick, the Ryobi P21801 18V One+ 280 CFM Jet Fan Blower Kit, has a 15-minute runtime, but we were able to get 30 minutes of use from it—longer than any other cordless blower on our list.
You also need to consider how long it takes to recharge the battery, which varies by model and can take an hour or more. If you're set on a cordless model but are concerned about runtime, investing in an extra battery is a good solution—you can keep working while the other one recharges.
Corded blowers are an alternative to battery-powered ones, completely eliminating concerns about battery life and charging time. These models work best if you don’t have a large yard, as their range is limited by the length of your extension cord. We prefer corded blowers with cord retainers to keep the cord organized and reduce tripping hazards. Our best budget choice, the Toro Power Sweep, is a corded blower.
Noise
Leaf blowers are typically loud, and you should expect some level of noise. Manufacturers often list the sound output in decibels, but in our testing, we found that the actual noise levels were usually higher than advertised. We’ve included the sound levels we measured for each blower in the product descriptions.
The noise level can vary based on the speed settings. Cook recommends wearing ear protection while operating the blower to protect your hearing. However, using a quieter blower for brief periods is generally acceptable. The Dewalt DCBL722P1 20V Max Brushless Cordless Battery-Powered Leaf Blower stands out as the quietest on our list, producing just 87 decibels. In contrast, our top pick, the Ryobi 18V ONE+ 280 CFM Jet Fan Blower Kit, registers at a much louder 107 decibels.
Weight & Maneuverability
If you plan to use your leaf blower on a regular basis, it’s essential to take the weight into account. Cordless models tend to be heavier because of the battery, which may cause quicker fatigue compared to a corded model.
The weight of a blower directly affects its maneuverability and overall comfort, whether you’re holding a handheld unit or carrying a backpack model. Consider the types of debris you typically clean and decide if you need a heavier, more powerful blower, or if a lighter-weight alternative could do the job just as well.
MytourAdditional Electric Leaf Blowers Worth Considering
Black+Decker 20V MAX Cordless Leaf Blower Kit: This blower is incredibly lightweight and easy to assemble. However, it struggles with moving debris effectively, requiring multiple passes during our tests to finish even a single area.
EGO Power+ 600 CFM Backpack Blower LB6003: For those in need of a high-powered blower to clear debris quickly, this model performs better than any other on our list. While it’s heavy, the backpack design makes it more comfortable to carry. Plus, it’s quieter than most competitors. However, despite claiming a 180-minute runtime, it typically only lasts around 20 minutes per charge.
Worx WG520 Turbine 600 Electric Leaf Blower: Priced at just over $50, this model offers great value. We especially appreciated its compact nozzle, which easily reached corners and tight spaces. However, it proved too powerful at its lowest setting, making it difficult to control short-distance blows. The extension cord also had issues in very cold temperatures.
