Amid mass layoffs and widespread hiring freezes, the surging unemployment rate has many questioning if it’s even worth seeking employment at this point. If you’re job hunting, you may feel like you're competing with millions of others for the few positions left due to the ongoing pandemic shutdown.
However, there are still some sectors actively hiring new workers. Although overall job postings have dropped by 40% in the last month, Snagajob highlights certain fields where hiring has significantly increased.
Postings in logistics and warehouse roles have surged by over 156% since March 11, along with retail, transportation, and grocery positions. Healthcare and convenience store jobs have experienced a slight decline, less than 5% each. The steepest drops have been in temporary staffing (a 74% decrease), entertainment (46%), hospitality (34%), sit-down restaurants (30%), and cleaning services (23%).
