Scientific name: Pristella maxillaria
Perfect for novice aquarists, the X-Ray Tetra reaches a size of 1.5 inches. Known for its swift movements, it thrives best in groups. Ideal water conditions include temperatures ranging from 72º to 82º Fahrenheit and a pH level between 6.0 and 8.0. It adapts well to both soft and moderately hard water and readily consumes flake and freeze-dried foods.
While the X-Ray Tetra's body coloration is subtle, its fins stand out strikingly. The tail features a muted red hue, and the dorsal and anal fins display a unique tri-color design: vibrant yellow, black, and white.
