2. A Study Surveyed 370 People, and Most Found Gardening to Be Truly Enjoyable
The study collected data from 370 individuals living in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Participants were asked to report their emotional happiness using a specially developed app called Daynamica after engaging in any of the 15 activities offered in the program. The results were astounding, with nearly all of them reporting that they thoroughly enjoyed gardening.

3. People Who Garden at Home Are Reported to Be Happier
Participants who engaged in home gardening reported higher levels of emotional happiness. For all 15 activities studied, the emotional happiness of those with home gardens was measured across different factors: average net effectiveness, average happiness, average meaningfulness, and the frequency of experiencing positive emotions. The results showed that gardening made people feel as happy as activities like cycling, walking, or dining out.

4. Women Report Better Emotional Well-being from Gardening Compared to Men
The survey also found that women generally reported higher happiness levels from gardening, and that those with lower incomes were more likely to experience these benefits. Additionally, people who grew vegetable gardens, as opposed to ornamental gardens, were found to be relatively happier with their current lives.
