While many around the world are struggling to find enough food, others with an abundance sometimes adopt behaviors that are not only unhealthy but can be seen as downright excessive. Some individuals make these poor choices a part of their daily routine, while others only occasionally indulge in the most outrageous of food habits. Here are ten examples of people who took eating to a whole new level—figuratively speaking.
10. Red Bull

Abuse: A woman survives for months on almost nothing but Red Bull.
A woman from New Zealand, looking to lose some weight after her pregnancy, decided to drop the pounds quickly by consuming almost nothing but Red Bull. She primarily used it to curb her appetite, while also benefiting from the energy boost it provided, eliminating the need for food. Though this diet led to several health complications, including a stroke, she did lose a significant amount of weight in a short period. It seems that this drastic diet wasn't part of her plan, but rather something that just sort of happened.
9. Carrots

Abuse: A girl embarks on a carrot-only diet in an attempt to turn her skin orange.
A girl sought to win a debate with her roommates by claiming that eating an excessive amount of carrots could lead to Carotenemia. To prove her point, she decided to follow a strict diet consisting solely of carrots and carrot juice. She was convinced that this could give her the orange skin of an Oompa Loompa, eliminating the need for a fake tan. While this diet certainly throws your nutritional balance off and is far from healthy, the orange tint to her skin is harmless and eventually fades.
8. Beer

Abuse: Surviving Lent on beer and water alone.
An Iowan decided to take a unique approach to Lent by consuming nothing but beer and water throughout the entire period. The man, a home brewer, was inspired by Bavarian monks who supposedly drank a concoction called “liquid bread” during Lent, as they were forbidden from eating solid food. While he claimed it was an effort to highlight the connection between booze and Christianity, it seems more likely that he simply found a perfect excuse to indulge in beer for the entire fasting season. Without a doubt, he spent much of Lent in a half-conscious state.
7. Coke

Abuse: A woman consumes ten liters of Coca-Cola daily.
After an autopsy, a coroner in New Zealand determined that a woman's death was primarily caused by her daily consumption of approximately 10 liters of Coca-Cola. Her friends also mentioned that she smoked multiple packs of cigarettes each day and ate very little. While it may be somewhat comical that Coca-Cola is distancing themselves from the incident, they're likely trying to avoid a lawsuit. And honestly, it's hard to blame them—lawsuits are rampant these days. In truth, the real issue here is a lack of self-control and a family that failed to intervene and get her the help she needed.
6. Twinkies

Abuse: The Twinkie Diet.
A man sought to demonstrate that calories aren't inherently 'good' or 'bad' when it comes to weight loss, so he came up with a rather questionable experiment. He ate only Twinkies, along with occasional servings of Doritos, Oreos, and cereal, all while keeping his overall caloric intake low. Surprisingly, his theory was proven correct, and he did lose weight. However, his diet of nothing but junk food was far from healthy. The lesson here should be that to lose weight, you need to reduce carbohydrates and exercise more—not that bingeing on Twinkies is the way to go.
5. Chocolate

Abuse: A girl in the UK survives almost solely on chocolate.
A girl in the UK consumes almost nothing but chocolate, all the time. Her parents attempt to justify this by claiming she has a ‘food phobia.’ While it’s said that she is in good health currently, it’s hard to believe this will last if her chocolate-heavy diet continues. She reportedly consumes 15 squares of cooking chocolate and 10 chocolate fingers every morning, and follows this with a similar lunch. For dinner, she sometimes has Rice Krispies, but only if they are smothered in melted chocolate. Occasionally, she will eat a small bag of Wotsits, but that’s about it.
4. Chicken McNuggets

Abuse: A mother allows her daughter to live almost entirely on Chicken McNuggets for 15 years.
Stacey, from the UK, had to be hospitalized after collapsing at work. It was revealed that she suffers from breathing difficulties, anemia, and other health issues, likely stemming from her diet. As a child, she tried chicken nuggets and, being spoiled, refused to eat anything else. Her mother made a few weak attempts to get her to eat other foods, but eventually gave up. Now, as an adult, Stacey has lived almost exclusively on chicken nuggets for years. Despite doctors warning that this diet could kill her prematurely, Stacey refuses to stop, insisting that she simply can’t eat anything else.
3. Co-Stars

Abuse: Dutch TV hosts consume each other's flesh live on air.
Two Dutch TV personalities, desperate for attention, came up with an outrageous idea—eating each other’s flesh. They had a surgeon remove pieces from their buttocks and stomach, and a chef prepared their own flesh, serving it with side dishes. While many skeptics believe it was a hoax, the hosts swear it was entirely real, even showing off their scars as proof. This isn't the first time the network has courted controversy; they previously aired a show where sick individuals competed to win a life-saving organ.
2. Human Fat

Abuse: Man undergoes liposuction and fries meatballs with his own fat for his friends.
A shock artist recently underwent liposuction, but instead of discarding the fat, he decided to use it as part of an artistic statement. He cooked the fat into meatballs and served them to his friends, claiming that since it was art, it wasn’t considered cannibalism. This isn’t Evaristti's first attempt at shocking the public. He’s previously dyed an iceberg red and even challenged people to press 'blend' while he had live fish in a blender. Honestly, it seems like he might be better off in a room with padded walls.
1. Veganism

Abuse: Parents nearly starve infant with a Vegan diet.
In Queens, a couple nearly caused their infant's death due to extreme dietary negligence. They chose not to breastfeed or provide milk or dairy, instead feeding the baby only fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Essentially, they imposed a vegan diet on their child, treating veganism as a sort of religion. The parents were sentenced to five to twenty-five years in prison after the judge determined that they should have known better than to feed a baby a vegan diet, as infants need more balanced nutrition for healthy growth.
