The small town of Cheadle in Alberta, Canada, boasts a modest airport, a small playground, and a population of around 80 residents. According to CNN, it has recently become the site of a towering tribute to Cheeto dust.
Standing proudly by the roadside is a sculpture of three fingers gripping a Cheeto, showcasing its vibrant orange hue. The nearly 17-foot-tall statue captures the essence of the snack's messy appeal, with the fingertips generously dusted in Cheeto residue—officially known as Cheetle since 2020. (Unless you follow Oscar Isaac's lead and use chopsticks or invest in these practical finger covers.)
If you suspect Cheadle was selected for this installation purely because its name echoes Cheetle, you’re spot on.
“The Cheetos brand, known for its playful and mischievous spirit, searched far and wide for the ideal location to place its statue. It eventually discovered Cheadle, a small town in Alberta with a name that perfectly matched its theme. (Could there be a better fit?),” Frito-Lay, the parent company of Cheetos, stated in a press release.
Local leaders in Cheadle are embracing their newfound fame. “Cheadle is thrilled to host the Cheetle Hand Statue,” said James Gosteli, president of the Cheadle Community Club. “There’s no better place for the Cheetos brand to celebrate the legendary Cheetle than right here[?]”
The statue, situated at 400 Railway Avenue, is a temporary installation and will remain only until November 4. Cheeto enthusiasts should start planning their road trip soon if they want to catch a glimpse of this unique tribute.
