This infographic was created by analyzing Google Trends data from the past month. Researchers looked into the search interest for over 50 holiday desserts and identified the top picks for each state.
As per Coffeeness, pumpkin pie is America’s top holiday dessert, loved by 20 states—including Delaware, Colorado, and Hawaii. The dessert traces its origins back to the Columbian Exchange, when European chefs incorporated pumpkin into their baking. French chef François Pierre de La Varenne was the first to document a pumpkin pie recipe around 1650, and it has since become a holiday tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas in the U.S.
