McDonald’s global success stems from its commitment to consistency. Whether you’re in New York, California, Brazil, or Canada, a Big Mac should, in theory, offer the same taste and ingredients. However, the price you pay can vary significantly depending on your location.
CashNetUSA, an online lender, recently analyzed the price of McDonald’s iconic burger across various capital cities worldwide, converting the costs into US dollars for comparison.

In the U.S., the average cost of a Big Mac is $5.17. However, in countries like Liechtenstein or Switzerland, the price jumps to $7.75. On the other hand, Pakistan offers the most affordable option, with the burger priced at just $1.91.
The platform also tracked the prices of Happy Meals, revealing that Swiss customers pay nearly double what Americans do for the same meal.

The analysis also highlights the top 10 most expensive McDonald’s menu items worldwide, with France’s Triple Cheddar and Double Beef standing out not only for its high price but also for its hefty 1336-calorie content.

The Big Mac was created by McDonald’s franchisee Jim Delligatti in Pittsburgh, inspired by a double-patty burger from competitor Big Boy. Introduced nationwide in 1968, it quickly became a hit, contributing 19% of the company’s sales the following year. Today, approximately 900 million Big Macs are sold annually.
