While Happy Meals might no longer be your go-to, you can still relive childhood memories with a classic drink at McDonald's. According to CNN, the fast-food giant is reintroducing Hi-C Orange Lavaburst to its menu after fans of the tangy orange beverage expressed their disappointment over its removal.
For over six decades, Hi-C Orange Lavaburst was a beloved fixture at McDonald's, first appearing on the menu in 1955. In 2017, the chain swapped it out for Sprite Tropic Berry, a Coca-Cola creation exclusive to McDonald's. This decision sparked widespread backlash, with customers launching online petitions and flooding social media with calls for the drink's comeback.
Responding to the overwhelming demand, McDonald's has decided to bring Hi-C back to its lineup of soft drinks. To keep fans informed, the company has even launched a dedicated website where customers can check when the drink will be available at their nearest location. Starting Monday, February 15, 2021, Hi-C Orange Lavaburst will begin appearing in restaurants, with a nationwide rollout expected to be completed by summer.
While McDonald's is renowned for its burgers and fries, its fountain beverages have also developed a dedicated fanbase. Many claim that Coca-Cola has a superior taste at McDonald's, and there might be some truth to it. Due to the unique storage methods used by the chain, the Coke served at McDonald's is often crisper and more chilled compared to the versions found in grocery stores.
