
While not everyone has a Cinnabon shop right around the corner, and making cinnamon rolls from scratch can be time-consuming or difficult for some, Pillsbury’s ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls are a reliable choice. All you need is a pan, an oven, and a little patience while they cool before adding the icing. The rolls even come with the same Cinnabon cinnamon filling and cream cheese icing.
However, even the popular Pillsbury rolls can’t quite match the moisture level of freshly baked Cinnabons. Luckily, a simple trick from TikTok has been circulating that might just fix that, with Patty Catalano of Kitchn putting it to the test.
To make your Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls extra moist, arrange all five rolls in the pan as usual, but before baking, pour half a cup of heavy cream over the rolls. Then, just bake them as you normally would, let them cool slightly, ice them, and enjoy.
"The rolls turned out soft, fluffy, and indulgent, just like Cinnabon’s!" Catalano noted. They even tasted just as good when reheated the next day. She shared some tips to get the most out of the hack. For those aiming to replicate a Cinnabon as closely as possible, she suggested using Grands! over Pillsbury’s smaller rolls. They might take a bit longer to bake than usual in order to fully absorb the cream, so if the tops turn golden before they’re cooked through, cover the pan with foil for the remainder of the baking time.
Feel free to double the recipe for more rolls. MacKenzie Smith of Grilled Cheese Social, who introduced Catalano to the trick, doubled the amount in her TikTok (using two sleeves of Grands! for a total of 10 rolls and a full cup of heavy cream), and it worked just as well.
